"VIRTUALLY AUSTRALIA - THE TROPICS" ENABLES 'VIRTUAL' VISITS TO BARRIER REEF ISLANDS AND TROPICAL RAINFORESTS AND PUTS YOU IN THE PICTURE - VIRTUALLY!. NQ VIDEO STUDIO LAUNCHES A MULTI MEDIA CD-ROM FEATURING OVER FIFTY LOCATIONS IN TROPICAL QUEENSLAND.
CAIRNS, QLD - AUSTRALIA - (MINDSET NETWIRE) -- October 1, 2000 - NQ Video Studio, a local multimedia developer, today announced the launch of an interactive CD-ROM that allows viewers to 'virtually' visit over 50 of the most picturesque locations in tropical Queensland. Anyone who has been here can relive their experience with 'at home' computer exploration. Those who are due for a holiday can use it to plan their upcoming visit . And just about everybody can dream about a lazy day on a sandy tropical beach while enjoying 'Virtually Australia - The Tropics' CD-ROM.
Online viewing has also been made available - showing some of the locations that are featured on the CD-ROM. So anyone with Internet access can take a sneak preview. Although the online images had to be reduced in size and detail for fast downloading, they will give the idea of the virtual journey. The virtual reality technology that is used to view the panoramas is based on QuickTime(TM) and has been developed by Apple Inc. a number of years ago. Although small panorama images have been seen on web sites, the high performance that even low-cost computers now provide, allow to show full screen panoramas in high detail. However, the necessary data volume to provide high detail - full screen images at reasonable time and cost, can only be delivered on CD-ROM.
'Virtually Australia-The Tropics' CD-ROM contains three viewing options to allow for the best possible viewing experience - on older as well as the latest computers. The CD-ROM runs with a web browser and contains Apple QuickTime(TM) so it can be used on Windows and Macintosh PCs without the need for Internet connection.
"I am very happy about the experience people have when viewing the CD-ROM" said Ralf Wenske, director of NQ Video Studio who developed and produced 'Virtually Australia-The Tropics'. "While men tend to inquire about technical features like pixel numbers and megabytes, women who have previewed it got captured by the beauty of the scenery and sound. Even to the point that some realized only after about an hour of virtually travelling that they had lost track of time".
"We wanted to relate some of the experience that we have when going for walks in our beautiful tropical landscape" Ralf said. "The response of people who have seen the panoramas on the CD-ROM shows that we achieved that goal. Everyone just loves it."
