Mountain View, Calif. -- (PRnetwire) -- June 27, 2001 -- TerraSeek, Inc., announced two new Web services today that reduce the cost and complexity of deploying location-based services. TerraSeek's GPS Web Service and Traveler Web Service enable companies to deploy location-aware Web and wireless applications without the traditional complexity associated with the deployment of data-intensive Web applications.

The GPS Web Service enables location-based search without deploying a complex geographic information system. This Web service provides a full geographic model based on latitude and longitude for the entire US, including geographic search across all cities, states and neighborhoods. "This is the first geographic reference Web service of its kind," said Kevin Yurica, Founder and CEO of TerraSeek. "We have created a full location-based model to more efficiently enable any company to become location-aware, and address the full spectrum of Web and wireless devices."

The Traveler Web Service offers diverse points of interest to aid travelers, such as recreation, restaurants, airports, hospitals, museums, hotels and much more. Unlike many travel directories, TerraSeek's Traveler Web Service includes detailed attributes for facilities that help individuals make informed decisions without having to phone ahead. "TerraSeek's Traveler Web Services includes a hierarchical attribute structure that provides far more detail than the yellow pages," said Kevin Yurica.

For example, TerraSeek's new emergency medical resource includes a profile of each facility including accepted insurance plans. Both new Web services are focused on the travel and hospitality industry and enable a simpler and more effective approach to publishing location-oriented services.

TerraSeek is an Advisor Group member of UDDI (Universal Description Discovery and Integration), a proposed universal registry standard for business oriented services, backed by Microsoft and IBM.

Both the GPS Web Service and the Traveler Web Service will be available within 30 days from TerraSeek's Web site (www.terraseek.com).
