Wappinger Falls, NY -- (PRnetwire) -- November 7, 2001 -- Simply Sapphires (www.simplysapphires.com) will auction off a 3.77 Ct untreated emerald cut blue sapphire to benefit Doberman Rescue Unlimited (DRU) (www.dru.org), announced John Tolliver, President and Owner of Simply Sapphires. The auction will be held on the Ebay Auction website (www.ebay.com) November 17-26, 2001.
Simply Sapphires LLC is an online company that specializes in the sale of natural precious stones to consumers and retailers. The site features Ceylon Sapphires, Tanzanite, Burma Rubies, Boulder Opal, Colombian Emeralds and other fine colored gems. Founded in 1998, Simply Sapphires gained success due to quality stones and superior customer service earning them The Gemkey Colored Gemstone Website of the Year award in 1999.
This fundraising effort was prompted by the death of John's Doberman Pinscher "Val." DRU assisted him with Valentine's health issues and gave invaluable compassion when he found out she was terminally ill and had to be put down. DRU also aided John with the adoption of another dog that needed a good home.
ABOUT DOBERMAN RESCUE UNLIMITED (DRU)
Since DRU's founding in 1988, this non-profit organization has helped over 1,200 homeless Doberman Pinschers. Many who are rescued suffer from the effects of abuse and neglect with most in poor or life-threatening situations. Each animal taken in by DRU is examined by a veterinarian, tested, treated, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, tattooed with an ID number in case it becomes lost or stolen, and placed. Pending placement, the animals are kept in foster homes or in various facilities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Each animal is evaluated carefully before placement to assure that the animal and its new home are a good match. Other important functions of DRU are public education, animal care and obedience counseling, and training for being placed with the elderly, hearing or sight-impaired. The auction is open to the public with the bidding beginning at $ 500. A 3.77 Ct untreated emerald cut blue sapphire would normally be sold at retail for well above $3,000.
