The goal of the book is to help people turn the professional contacts they make into the connections they need. According to a report released by the US Government, the US economy remained weak in April 2003 showing little or no signs of rebound other than a 0.8% increase in consumer spending expected to continue through the 3rd quarter. The US Department of Labor and Statistics reported that unemployment increased from 5.8% to 6.0% in April 2003 with job loses continued in manufacturing, some travel-related industries and department stores. This brings the total amount of unemployed persons living in the US to 8.8 million.
