Tracks Of Vermont Women's Retreats Offers An Alaskan Adventure For The Growing Trend Of Women Who Travel On Their Own
WESTON, VT - April 7, 2004 /Send2Press Newswire/ -- Tracks of Vermont (www.exploreVT.com) is excited
to announce an Alaskan Adventure for Women. This trip will cater to the growing trend for women to
make travel plans on their own, not deferring their dreams for the convenience of friends and family.
"Our programs are for women-only because we believe every woman needs time for herself, but not
necessarily by herself," says group leader Mary Castner, one of the three partners in the effort.
"You'll feel confident joining other women who enjoy being outdoors and having fun. Within a small
group like this, you'll find it easy to relax and just be yourself -- sharing, laughing and learning."
The ten-day trip, planned for July 23 to August 3, 2004, will combine the thrill of an Alaskan
wildlife adventure with a rewarding human connection. "It is the human stories that live on in our
minds and hearts long after the journey is ended," says Castner.
After running numerous trips to Alaska, partner Dagny St. John has found that women are particularly
attracted to Alaska. "While all people are fascinated by the wildlife, women in particular find the
whole experience speaks to their souls," reports St. John. "More than one woman has told me that she
feels a root-level connection to this land. It will be a wonderful experience for me to share with
other women this incredible place and its people."
One of the primary goals of the trip is to introduce women to the Alaska that tourists rarely see. As
they hike and kayak in search of Alaska's spectacular wildlife, the group will meet and learn from
tribal elders and local naturalists. A tribal storyteller will join them for dinner one night, an
elder will teach about folklore and customs another day.
The Women in Alaska group will travel by boat and airplane to many of the finest wildlife areas in
Alaska. Inspirational yoga classes will be offered at many locations. "It is awe-inspiring to practice
yoga here and feel the unity between all people, all creatures and the ageless land," says St. John, a
certified Polarity practitioner.
The group will spend three nights in Juneau hiking at the Mendenhall Glacier and kayaking in inland
sea. They will then fly to the small Tlingit village of Angoon where they will stay three nights at a
quaint and comfortable fishing resort. A private tour boat will bring them to Sitka where they will
stay at the famous Rockwell Lighthouse on a private island surrounded by wildlife.
