JAMESBURG, N.J., April 14 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Namaste Holistics, a company focused on guiding and supporting people in reaching their health goals through small manageable lifestyle changes, announced today that it has begun a comprehensive community education. The company offers a variety of services which are complementary to modern medicine, such as integrative nutritional consultations, perspective counseling, massage therapy, meditation, nutritional seminars, and spiritual workshops.

Through their flagship service, Namaste Nutrition, the team at Namaste Holistics helps clients discover how food and lifestyle affect their health, happiness and wellbeing. This program explores nutritional concepts such as bio-individuality, crowding out unhealthy food, deconstructing cravings, the energetics of food, the food/mood connection, integrative nutrition, weight loss, whole foods/processed foods, and the value of greens and whole grains. Clients learn how to incorporate a variety of elements of healthy eating and living such as achieving balance, eating with environmental consciousness, exploring relationships, healthy shopping, journal writing, menu planning, personal growth, physical activity, and spirituality. At the end of the program the goal is for the client to be educated and have greater confidence in the expert within herself or himself to make healthy choices.

"The whole body approach to health is not a new concept. However, I think that we are inundated with conflicting messages by 'experts' which confuse us. We forget that we can be our own expert. No one knows us better than we know ourselves," said Taz, Founder, Massage Therapist and Integrative Nutritional Consultant of Namaste Holistics. "We need to go back to the basics and be educated in what is available to us so we can provide ourselves and future generations with the health needed to continue living the 'American Dream'."

A special quality of the programs of Namaste Holistics is found in individualized services merged with the group support each client receives. Multiple components are provided in each program such as nutritional counseling and educational seminars, spiritual workshops, support group meetings, massage therapy, and a health and wellness group discussion board.

These program features reinforce one another and intertwine with all aspects of life. The diverse offerings allow each counselor to make the program very individualized. Additionally, each counselor specializes in a different area of concern, such as peri- and post-menopausal women, a healthy diet that supports cancer, making radical diet changes, or establishing a healthy lifestyle for people who work in a corporate or entrepreneurial arena.

"Each one of us at Namaste Holistics knows through experience that what works for one person does not work for another. We truly listen to our clients to find out what their needs are. Some may need a massage in order to slow down, and some may need a meditation session to get to the same place. So we invite anyone who has a health concern to schedule an initial consultation with us." concluded Taz.

People who are interested in discussing their health concerns are encouraged to contact Taz at Namaste Holistics at 609-642-1234 or via email at health @namasteholistics.com. There is no charge for the initial consultation which takes approximately 30-minutes and can be done via telephone.

About the Company
Namaste Holistics is a private company that offers a variety of complementary non-invasive modalities in efforts to help people gain a fuller experience of life. Offerings include nutritional counseling, engagement in meditation, or a variety of other therapeutic offerings. A synergistic combination of healthy practices can be helpful in promoting healing.

We also offer workshops that provide clients with valuable information, opportunities for sharing, and other experiential activities. Workshop participation provides our clients with a fuller context for understanding and implementing their own course of healing. Namaste Holistics was founded on a belief in bio-individuality and all program offerings reflect that belief.
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Nov. 30 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The old adage that "beauty is only skin deep" is true, but diet and lifestyle make it possible to change the skin's color, if so desired. "Unlocking the Mystery of Skin Color" (ISBN: 978-0-9792103-0-3), a new book scheduled to be released by Thienna, Inc., in mid-December, provides tips on how to control and to change the skin's color.

On Sunday, December 16 at 5:00 p.m., in the basketball gym of San Francisco State University, Author Dr. Thienna Ho will announce the book's launch and have a question and answer period.

Dr. Thienna explains that skin color is not permanent; it can be changed, to a remarkable degree, without the use of toxic drugs, chemicals, or steroids.

According to Dr. Thienna, this incredible method is not new. It has taken thousands of years of dietary practices and traditions to create the diversity of skin colors we see in the world today; they are changeable through the use of those same elements.

"Unlocking the Mystery of Skin Color" reveals age-old traditions that led to the development of the lightest complexions, such as those seen in Northern Europe and Japan.

"This book will teach people how to use diet and lifestyle to control their own skin color," Dr. Thienna says.

Readers will learn how to lighten their complexion, not only on the face, but all over their body. They will also be given tips on how to even out complexions, reduce visible age and sun spots, and eliminate hyper-pigmentation.

Sun damage is always a concern. Tips for restoring sun-damaged, dull, and darkened skin to a youthful and healthy luster are revealed.

What about trouble areas such as the knees and elbows? These areas require extra attention and natural color can be restored to skin that is ashen or gray.

If a yellow hue is cause for concern, there are ways to noticeably reduce the cast and maybe even achieve a natural tan complexion.

The book also addresses a variety of popular questions that include: Why do the poorest countries have people with the darkest skin? Why do some African-American celebrities seem to grow lighter over time? Why do people tan even when they do not go out in the sun?

Dr. Thienna has written a book that promises to deliver results, no matter what the skin color.

The author was born in Saigon, Vietnam three months after Viet Cong forces attacked the city during the infamous Tet Offensive. Eleven years later, Dr. Thienna and her family fled communist Vietnam in a 50-foot wooden boat that carried 285 passengers. On its way to Indonesia, the vessel was attacked by pirates on numerous occasions. Less than one year later, Dr. Thienna's family immigrated to the U.S. and settled in San Francisco.

Dr. Thienna is founder of Thienna, Inc. and is one of the world's leading authorities on human skin color. She holds a number of academic degrees, including a BA in Economics; a BS in Microbiology; a Graduate Certificate in Genetic Engineering; an MA in Business Administration; and a Ph.D. in Scientific Nutrition. She also has performed significant additional study in the fields of chemistry, biology, and molecular biology. At the age of 27, Dr. Thienna started a small business that has blossomed into a million-dollar success.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA - Aug. 17 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Dr. Joel L. Becker, Director of Cognitive Behavior Associates (cognitivebehaviorassociates.com) and Assistant Clinical Professor at the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, has announced the inauguration of a new interactive sleep program. Consumers and physicians are both concerned about the side effects of sleep medications and patient's growing dependence on them. Aggressive marketing by the drug companies for sleep medications led to Dr. Becker's decision to present an alternative to the patient that has better results and no side effects.

"Soundly Sleeping" is a brief six session program that teaches clients tools to help them get improvement in their sleep. The program is based on similar interventions that have been shown to improve 100% of participant's sleep, in which 91% of participants reduced their use of sleeping medication and 40% stopped taking sleeping medication entirely.

*(Photo Caption: Joel Becker, Ph.D.)

"Soundly Sleeping" is a Cognitive Behavioral program. It is similar to a program that was first researched at the Massachusetts General Hospital. In a study of that program, reported in the Archives of Internal Medicine, they recommended Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) as the first line intervention for chronic insomnia. They reported that "CBT is more effective than pharmacotherapy alone or a placebo." CBT, which has emerged over the last 40 years as one of the most effective treatments for a variety of disorders, is an approach that focuses on the thoughts and behaviors of the patient in the present.

"Soundly Sleeping" has three key components. The first focuses on educating the patient about important elements of sleep like circadian rhythms and the effects of stimulants. The second component evaluates the patient's ways of thinking about sleep as helpful or unhelpful. For example, a person who is rigid about how much sleep they must get can replace that thought with another more flexible thought, which will keep their anxiety lower. Finally, the third component addresses behaviors that influence sleep, for example the roles of napping, sleep schedules and exercise. By the end of the program clients are able to use theses tools combined together with more general methods like relaxation and meditation techniques to improve their sleep.

This easy to learn program has been applied to a wide range of sleeping problems. Patients from diverse backgrounds report that they are able to take this knowledge and the skills taught and implement them immediately. Cognitive Behavior Associates, the largest cognitive behavioral practice in the Los Angeles area, offers services for the full range of psychological problems.
Becker, Ph.D., Clinical Director of Cognitive Behavior Associates, 9400 Brighton Way, #407 Beverly Hills, CA 90210, Phone: 310-858-3831, or visit www.cognitivebehaviorassociates.com.
OJAI, CA - June 22 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Global Resource Alliance (GRA), a California-based non-profit, announced today results of an on-going study in the Lake Victoria Region of Tanzania which suggests that a homeopathic neem tincture is both highly effective and financially feasible for the treatment and prevention of malaria (plasmodium falciparum). Eighty-one percent of participants in the study reported a significant decrease in malaria outbreaks in the first 6 months of the 18-month study.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that worldwide, more than 300 million acute cases of malaria occur each year, 90% in sub-Saharan Africa where malaria accounts for 1 in 5 childhood deaths. However, the abundance of neem in Africa, and other regions threatened by malaria, and the relative simplicity and minimal production costs of the tincture makes this natural homeopathic remedy a potentially viable option for millions of the world's poor living in endemic malaria regions.

*(Photo caption: Musa John receiving homeopathic neem drops for prevention of malaria.)

In traditional medicine, the neem tree (Azadirachta indica) is recognized as an effective treatment for many diseases. Although neem has been used in India for thousands of years, its properties have not been studied in the Western world until relatively recently. Neem, the "tree of 1,000 uses", can be used for purposes as diverse as pest control, the treatment of skin disorders, systemic bacterial, viral and fungal infections as well as the prevention and treatment of malaria.

The homeopathic neem tincture used in the GRA study was first developed by the Abha Light Foundation in Nairobi, Kenya. The remedy is an ethanol based tincture carrying the medicinal properties of neem leaves. A 20 ml plastic dropper bottle holds approximately 100 doses (450-500 drops), sufficient for a 2-3 month twice daily regimen, and costs less than fifty cents.

Data for the study was gathered from a questionnaire administered by Foundation HELP, Tanzania social worker, Christopher Gamba, during home visits after 3 and 6 months. The percentage of subjects who reported a decrease of malaria episodes increased from 57% at 3 months to 81% after 6 months of treatment. There were no reports of side-effects during the treatment.

As the US National Research Council (NRC) points out, neem has a complex chemical makeup with more than twenty compounds identified to date. Theoretically, this makes development of resistance unlikely.

The beneficial properties of neem and lack of side-effects combined with the low manufacturing cost may constitute a viable solution to decrease the incidence of malaria in highly impacted areas. GRA directors caution that despite very optimistic initial results, more studies are needed.

The complete, 12-page report prepared by N.M. Barlow-Benschop, MD, MSc, C.Gamba, S.P. Barlow, BSc, T. M. Blasco, PhD. on this study of homeopathic neem for the prevention of malaria may be found on the GRA website: www.globalresourcealliance.org

COLUMBUS, OH - August 1 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Public Health Information Services, Inc. (PHIS), an Ohio healthcare corporation, announced today that it is seeking individuals and animals recently diagnosed with cancer to participate in a distance healing study. Registered nurse and company president, M. Sue Benford, has been researching various complementary and alternative healing techniques for almost a decade and believes she has found a modality with widespread potential. The technique, known as "bioenergy" healing has demonstrated success in seven clinical trials with mice and in less rigorous studies with humans for over thirty years.

"We have found one particular individual who has repeatedly been able to cause spontaneous remissions in both animals and humans under controlled conditions," claimed Benford. "Not only do the experimental animals remit in the studies but the control animals often remit, too, regardless of how far away they are from the healer or experimental mice. Just the fact that the controls are a part of the overall experiment apparently includes them in the treatment group." Benford says that it is this observation that gave her the idea for a distance healing study.

According to Benford, two subjects have already demonstrated improvement in the study. The first was a dog diagnosed with an aggressive oral cancer, which the veterinarian held little hope of curing. Unbeknownst to Benford, her assistant, the dog's owner, enrolled the dog in the experimental group. Within two weeks, the dog's tumor completely disappeared much to the bewilderment of the veterinarian. A second subject, a breast cancer patient in the former Soviet Union country of Georgia, was also enrolled in the experimental group. Within one month, the woman began to notice softening and shrinking of the tumor as well as the typical signs of this immuno-stimulating bioenergy therapy, which includes local heat and tenderness.

Benford points out that this technique has been less than successful on patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. "For some reason, chemotherapy and radiation offset the effects of the bioenergy therapy. Although we wouldn't turn away anyone wanting to enroll in our study, we are primarily seeking people and animals who have not yet undergone chemotherapy and/or radiation."

Benford points out that there is no cost to enroll in the study; however, enrollment numbers will be limited to keep the project manageable. People selected to participate will receive a consent form to sign and be asked for basic information and a recent photo. Participants must be receiving routine medical evaluations to monitor their progress during the study.

Benford concludes, "Obviously we can't offer anyone any type of guarantee that this approach will cure them of cancer but, from what I've seen so far, it's certainly worth a try if you or a loved one has cancer."

Those interested in being considered for enrollment in the study should contact PHIS, Inc. at PHISInfo@aol.com or tollfree at 1-877-764-2843.
