GARLAND, Texas, May 14 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- DaveCo Industries recently received their second supplier award from Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. After initially being inducted into Preferred Supplier Program in 2003 at Silver status, Lockheed now recognizes DaveCo as a Gold status Preferred Supplier. Representatives from Lockheed visited DaveCo's facilities in Garland, TX and presented the award to the entire company.

This prestigious award comes on the heels of DaveCo's AS9100 registration, and the ensuing celebration was intended to commemorate both accomplishments. The Gold Supplier status requires a quality rating of 100% and on-time delivery of 100% for 24 straight months, and this accomplishment is not easily achieved in this challenging market.

DaveCo now has its sights set on the Platinum level, which requires an additional 12 months of 100% quality and delivery ratings.

Accepting the Gold status award for DaveCo was the president of the company Mark Helterbrand. "Our partnership with Lockheed has and will be a big part of our success. They continue to raise the bar on our performance and that is making us a better supplier to them and to our other customers as well," stated Helterbrand.

DaveCo is well-positioned for significant growth in the aerospace and defense markets in the coming months and years. This business segment has already increased in recent years and is targeted to become a much larger percentage of DaveCo's revenue base in 2009 and beyond.
Facebook Application, My Military Experience, enables United States Military Personnel and U.S. Veterans to locate and communicate with military colleagues

FORT BRAGG, N.C., April 2 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Electronic Allies LLC, operators of the military career advice community SmartSoldier.com, today announced the availability of the My Military Experience Facebook application. The application, launched for final beta testing last week, allows Facebook users with military experience to display details of their military service within a seamlessly integrated box on their Facebook profile.

Over 4,000 users installed the application during the initial testing phase and the developer forecasts over 25,000 users will be displaying their military experience on their profiles by the end of April.

Users can add their branch, duty status and the time spent at specific duty stations. In addition, the application enables users to search for other members of the U.S. Armed Services using the same criteria.

"Facebook is a powerful platform for locating and connecting with people," said U.S. Army Veteran and SmartSoldier.com Founder William Fernandez. "Building a truly useful application for members of the U.S. Armed Forces on this platform is directly in line with our primary goal- to continually provide resources to help our servicemen and women make informed choices throughout their military careers."

Locating former military friends and colleagues is only one of the creator's intentions. Similar to Fernandez's military career advice community, users are advised to connect and communicate with other individuals in similar situations or even those in places or positions they are considering.

The My Military Experience Facebook application is free and readily available to Facebook users serving in or connected to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corp or Coast Guard. Individuals can add the application by searching for "Military Experience" in the Facebook application directory, or by visiting apps.facebook.com/military-experience.

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., Feb. 27 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- In the forthcoming memoir, "An Officer and A Junkie: From West Point to the Point of No Return" (ISBN: 0-7573-0639-6, HCI Books - $15.95 - March 2008) author and West Point graduate Michael Winder tells the powerful and fascinating true story of his drug-induced descent into literal madness - while serving as an officer in the United States Army. Winder offers readers a piercing glimpse into a world that few of us could ever imagine.

Winder's autobiographical work offers a raw and uncensored look into the underbelly of substance abuse in two highly respected and rigorous academic and military environments: the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, and the United States Army. Readers experience a month-to-month account of Winder's escalating abuse of prescription and illegal mind-altering substances - enough to eventually cloud his reality to the point where he came to believe he was the reincarnation of Mexican impressionist painter Frida Kahlo, and ultimately, The Messiah.

"I got to the point where I thought I was someone else. I was seeing things, hearing things, being tormented by voices that wanted me dead, literally being haunted by visions of blood and demons ...some of the worst things that anyone could ever hear or see," says Winder. "So although I suppose my story carries some voyeuristic interest, it is first and foremost a cautionary tale. I am deeply hopeful that reading about my experiences will help others avoid making some of the same mistakes I made."

Winder's story is brutally honest, intelligently written, and provides a wild, surreal, and raucous ride into the depths of hedonistic destruction. He describes a shocking and captivating drug-fueled existence that starts at West Point, continues as a commissioned Army officer, and doesn't even stop him from being accepted to one of the country's most prestigious law schools. But when the smoke finally clears, the terrible consequences of his excesses are revealed, and readers are permitted a rare glimpse into the horrible world of drug-induced psychosis. It is at the same time a sad story, a tale of warning, and a fascinating window into a dangerous and salacious world that thankfully most will never experience.

The West Point and military components are obviously unique to the story. In addition, the story has another significant component that separates itself from other books in its genre: it's the first "documented memoir." Unlike Basketball Diaries and other successful memoirs on addiction, "An Officer and A Junkie" actually includes source materials (e.g., officer evaluation reports, police reports, etc.) directly in the book. This lends a compelling realism to an already riveting tale of self-destruction and resurrection.

With episodic, straightforward narrative, Winder pulls no punches in his confessions of what he did (and did not do) both inside and outside military walls, revealing his innermost delusions and most shameful acts. He achieves his intent, namely to paint a revealing picture of how ruthless and insidious the disease of addiction can be.

Michael Winder is a speaker and writer and is in recovery from substance abuse. He resides in Westport, Connecticut.
POWAY, Calif. - Mar. 7 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Intelligent Automation Corporation (IAC), proven leaders in aircraft Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS), successfully completed its first installation and test flight on the U.S. Army 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment's (160th SOAR) MH-47G Chinook helicopter. IAC is under contract to provide advanced diagnostic systems for the 160th SOAR MH-47G, MH-60K, and MH-6J "Little Bird" helicopters.

The 160th SOAR is the most sophisticated and demanding aviation unit in the world with over one-hundred fifty state-of-the-art M-6, AH-6, MH-60 and MH-47 aircraft. IAC is uniquely qualified to provide the 160th SOAR with technologically advanced HUMS and diagnostic solutions. The 160th's highly specialized and demanding mission requires a highly sophisticated, easy-to-use HUMS system with a demonstrated track record of performance in order to meet their stringent requirements.

According to IAC Chief Executive Officer Jeff Goodrich, "IAC is providing combat proven HUMS and Portable Rotor Track and Balance systems to the 160th SOAR. They are a sophisticated customer that helps push the technology envelope to meet their mission. The advanced systems developed and fielded by the 160th SOAR are increasingly transitioned into the regular Army and other DOD helicopters. This represents a market potential of well over 3000 helicopters. These systems significantly reduce helicopter operating costs while improving readiness and safely."

To date, IAC has delivered ten (10) IAC 1209 - Modern Signal Processing Unit (MSPU) systems for the MH-47G, two (2) IAC-1087 Portable Rotor Track and Balance systems for the MH-6J and five (5) IAC-1030 Vibration Management Enhancement Program (VMEP) systems for the MH-60K aircraft. IAC is also under contract to integrate the IAC-1209 MSPU systems with the 160th SOAR Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS).

The U.S. Army has issued Modification Work Order (MWO 1-1520-251-50-05) for the IAC 1209 MSPU - HUMS approving the system for installation on all 750 U.S. Army AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopters. With over 180 IAC HUMS systems already installed on U.S. Army H-60 (Blackhawk), H-47 (Chinook) and AH-64 Apache helicopters, this order confirms IAC as the number one U.S. Army HUMS supplier.
