WALDORF, Md., June 2 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- There's a new erotica writer on the block - U'nyque - and she's making her presence known in a newly-released, triple XXX-rated book, "Up the Street, Down the Block & 'Round the Corner" (ISBN: 978-1-4196-8863-8). The novel is now available at Baker & Taylor, Abebooks.co.uk, and Amazon.com.

This sexually captivating book is written for anyone who enjoys reading about adult love and sexuality. In U'nyque's book, written words provide a platform for adults to free their minds from sexual limitations. Through her writing, she encourages the reader to break through sexual boundaries.

U'nyque writes about the five senses and incorporates images that pertain to touch, taste, smell, hearing, and seeing. She combines all of these in a manner that frees the reader to enjoy and experience the body in a way that is sexually fulfilling, yet raw and gritty.

"This book is kind of like an orgasm for the mind," U'nyque says. "I wanted to write something that would make readers feel free and uninhibited."

"Up the Street, Down the Block & 'Round the Corner" takes place in the tumultuous 1960s in the bustling and sexually tense city of Washington D.C. There are several main characters whose lives intertwine throughout the book.

One of the main characters, Lyn Richmond, only wants one thing in life -- to become someone's wife, while Gertrude Cooper has a good husband, but can't seem to be faithful.

Vincent (Vince) Owens is a professional football player who thinks he's a "player." However, he has the worst luck when it comes to women and relationships.

Newlyweds, Jackie and Sterling Wright, seem to have their whole lives ahead of them; they are expecting a new child, but then life throws them a curve ball.

Lorenzo Miles is an absolutely gorgeous model. The problem is that he is not sure if he is straight, gay, or bi-sexual.

Other characters are involved in a love triangle and graphic arguments between the two women for the control of and love of one man create daily challenges.

Betty Taylor and her companion Sidney Mathis are "salt of the earth" type characters who suffer great heartache from Betty's drug-addicted son.

All of these characters come together to create a real-life blending of emotions and sensory perceptions.

"My inspiration for writing is rooted in everyday life," U'nyque explains. "Telling stories is what I like to do and making them as vividly believable as possible is the fun part."

U'nyque adds that she tries to find humor in everyday life and when she can't she "tells it like it is."

"I enjoy the seduction of erotica and creating a 'shock factor,'" she explains.

H. Thomasine Wren, author of "The Plan Brown Wren," a story about overcoming sexual abuse, lauded U'nyque's efforts and explains that "Up the Street, Down the Block & 'Round the Corner" is "triple XXX stories with a flavor for the real."

U'nyque adds that she hopes this book will transcend race and gender. She is currently at work on her second book, "The Gems, The Pimps, & Me," scheduled for release in the spring of 2009.

Released by Booksurge Publishing, "Up the Street, Down the Block & 'Round the Corner," is a 329-page trade paperback (ISBN-10: 1419688634, ISBN-13: 978-1419688638). It is being distributed by Baker & Taylor; Abebooks.co.uk; Amazon.com; and also available on U'nyque's web site at: www.msunyque.com.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 20 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Red Lime Products, Inc. has launched a new web site where customers can not only choose from an array of personal care products, they can design them as well. Established in 2005, Red Lime Products Inc. is an international direct distributor of private label indoor tanning lotions, custom personal care products, and the exclusive distributor of the bodibar(R) system - a patent-pending personal care system.

Prior to the launch of the web site, www.mybodibar.com, these products were only available in retail outlets, tanning salons and spas around the world. Now, customers can put their creative combinations to work and order custom personal care products on line.

"While there are many personal care product companies out there, not many allow their customers to create unique fragrance blends, colors and ingredients," Scott Johnson, CEO Red Lime Products, says. "You dream it; we blend it."

Currently, personal care products available include: moisturizer, bodi gel, bodi mist, bodi wash, and tanning lotion.

Creative combinations abound with over one million possibilities available.

bodibartenders(TM) execute the orders and use the most accurate methods to dose out selected components directly into the retail bottle, ensuring a completely sanitary solution. The cap is placed on the bottle and put into the advanced mixing system that never touches the product, but instead "folds" the mix over 500 times. Custom permanent labels are applied to the bottle; it includes the mix recipe, blend date, best if used by date, and the name of the person the mix was created for.

Some of the more popular fragrances include jasmine, vanilla and citrus splash. And, if a customer wants a pink lotion accompanied by a blue gel a bodibartender(TM) can easily make this happen in only minutes.

bodibar's products are also getting recognized by credible news sources. In February 2008, their bodibar(R) moisturizer was selected as the "Just-For-You" moisturizer by "Looking Fit Magazine." And, an article in the "Island Sun Times" reported that tanning salon owners were simply raving about the bodibar(R).

Currently, the company is having a grand opening sale where new customers will receive 50 percent off. In addition, mybodibar.com is firmly committed to giving back to the community. As a result, the company will donate $1 from each transaction to a local, reputable charity of the customer's choice.

Heart disease is the #1 killer of women. 1 in 4 women dies of heart disease. 1 in 30 women dies of breast cancer. AKRON, Pa., Feb. 25 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Every year on March 8, millions gather in rallies and parades around the world to honor the achievements of women on International Women's Day, an occasion relatively unknown in the United States. Fair trade retailer Ten Thousand Villages will join forces with a national domestic violence prevention organization to celebrate the event in March.

In partnership with the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), Ten Thousand Villages will host community shopping fundraisers throughout its network of 80 nationwide stores and on its Web site, tenthousandvillages.com. When customers shop one of the Ten Thousand Villages stores on the community shopping benefit night scheduled to benefit their local domestic violence prevention agency or shelter, 10 percent of all sales will be donated to the organization. Additionally, as always, sales will also benefit the disadvantaged female artisans in Africa, Asia and Latin America represented throughout the fair trade retailer's extensive product line of handmade jewelry, home decor and personal accessories.

"International Women's Day, which is celebrated by our artisan partners around the world, honors the resilient spirit of women worldwide," said Lisa Stratton, Marketing Director. "We want to empower all women to build a more peaceful global community."

The promotion will also take place online on March 8, International Women's Day. Ten percent of all online sales will be donated to the NCADV when customers shop at www.tenthousandvillages.com.

The United Nations Development Fund for Women estimates that one in three women around the world will be abused in her lifetime. Many artisan partners working with Ten Thousand Villages provide employment to disadvantaged women, such as Manushi, an artisan group in Nepal. Manushi seeks to empower their artisans-some of whom are living in abusive situations-by providing them with skills training and loans.

Founded in 1946, Ten Thousand Villages is one of the most established fair trade organizations in the world. Ten Thousand Villages strives to improve the livelihood of more than 60,000 disadvantaged artisans, the majority of whom are women, by selling handmade gifts, decor and accessories that represents the diverse cultures of artisans in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Product sales help pay for food, education, healthcare and housing for artisans who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed.

NCADV builds local and national coalitions for community-based, non-violent strategies to eradicate social conditions that contribute to violence against women and children.

For more information about the International Women's Day fundraisers, contact your local Ten Thousand Villages store or visit tenthousandvillages.com to shop or to locate the store nearest you.

International Women's Day, which has been observed since in the early 1900s, is a major day of celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women around the world. Thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate their achievements. While there are many large-scale initiatives, a diverse array of local activity connects women from around the world, ranging from political rallies to theatrical performances, parades and more.
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - Feb. 7 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- With Valentine's Day just around the corner, Dr. Mark Berkowitz, Medical Director of Accents Cosmetic Surgery and Medical Spa, is just in time to prepare pouty lips and transform thin lips for a special Valentine's Day. Berkowitz has just released a free, fact-filled report ebook, entitled: "Lip Tips You'll Love" - an in-depth review of today's lip enhancing options sure to dispel common myths and leave Detroiter's smiling seductively.

"This information is going to be incredibly valuable to women of all ages," explains Berkowitz. "Thin lips or wrinkles surrounding the mouth leave my female patients feeling insecure. Even with great skin and flawless make-up, thin, wrinkled lips can't be disguised. Rarely does a day pass without addressing this concern," Berkowitz adds. A live treatment can be viewed on YouTube.com - just search for "Berkowitz lips."

Cathy Stramaglia, one of Berkowitz's medical aestheticians, knows the value of plumper lips first hand. She recently had Restylane placed by Dr. Berkowitz in her lips and is pleased to report that even a month later she loves applying lipstick and lip liner every morning. Cathy feels more self-confident since her quick, in-office treatment and would without reservation recommend this procedure to any woman feeling remotely inhibited by their less than sultry lips.

With so many options available to create a plump, seductive smile, "Lip Tips You'll Love," explains surgical lip augmentation, cosmetic injections and more. Maria Orlando, another of Berkowitz's medical aestheticians, also contributed to this guide to beautiful lips with tips for lip health, make-up application, and choosing the right products.

Free copies of "Lip Tips You'll Love" are available. Anyone who would like a copy may request it by phone: (586) 254-7692 or may download it from Berkowitz's website: www.OneHourLift.com/lips.

Berkowitz has been injecting lip-plumping fillers for nearly a decade and welcomes the opportunity to educate Detroiters interested in enhancing social interactions limited by frown lines, smokers lips or looking old. Being both knowledgeable and entertaining, Berkowitz interviews well and welcomes questions from the media, listeners and readers alike. His interviews have been featured in The Detroit Free Press, The Macomb Daily, on Today's Health and on WDIV.

HOUSTON, Texas - Nov. 2 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Now, even stay-at-home moms can have access to an attractive benefits package. Beginning in 2008, the web-based company HoustonSAHM.com, also HoustonStayAtHomeMom.com, will launch its new membership program, a "fringe benefits" plan for residents of Houston and the surrounding areas that provides numerous rewards and discounts simply for being a stay-at-home mom.

The most compelling benefit is the free weekly Street Sweets -- member appreciation give-aways of books and magazines, groceries, Marble Slab ice cream, Shipley's donuts, and an assortment of other goodies -- for each week of 2008. Additional benefits include savings from partners on swim lessons, handyman services, CPR training, dining, and photography, to name a few. Add to that a free makeover, rebates on purchases, a networking portal for establishing mommy connections, and eligibility for HoustonSAHM.com job opportunities, and the absence of traditional "career mom" benefits like paid sick days are hardly missed.

Beginning November 2, moms can sign up for 2008 HoustonSAHM.com membership online or purchase a gift membership for a friend at www.HoustonSAHM.com for the promotional rate of $12, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Life Houston, a short-term emergency assistance program that provides infant formula and food to disadvantaged babies. Membership is also open to moms who work outside the home and even dads.

The whole "benefits package" idea began when stay-at-home-mom Karen Logan made a goal to create a dynamic website for Moms who stay home to raise the kids. The 2008 membership program becomes effective exactly a year after the company's start date of January 1, 2007, because, as Logan puts it, even "stay-at-home moms should have benefits."

Members and non-members alike however can already take advantage of the website's numerous features designed to enhance the journey of motherhood such as free preschool lesson plans, printable checklists and planning documents, information articles, local events, coupons, a Kids Eat Free guide, jokes and brainteasers, access to volunteer opportunities, support groups, news, and a Mom Spotlight.

For details on becoming a local discount partner or sponsor, or for group membership sales, contact marketing@houstonsahm(.com).
KIRKLAND, Wash. - Feb. 16 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- As a growing number of women live alone, millions must look out for themselves without a partner to assist them. They can handle it, but what if they have a spell of bad luck, like Paula Taylor? Ms. Taylor, a single professional woman, suddenly found herself in a wheelchair after an accident, unable to walk or work for several months. "How can independent women like Paula look out for themselves when they're incapacitated?" says Cameron Truesdell, CEO of LTC Financial Partners LLC, the nation's most experience long term care insurance brokerage.

"Where does the money come from to get them though the down times?" Both sexes need long term care insurance, he says, "but women have a special need."

*(Photo Caption: LTC Financial CEO Cameron Truesdell.)

He points to sobering U.S. Census Bureau statistics:
* Working women make only 77 cents for every dollar earned my men.** Their lower pay makes them less able to salt away emergency funds.

* More than half of all women 15 and older, 51%, say they live without a spouse.** They don't have that significant other, with that second income, to supplement their own earnings and savings.

* Women, married as well as unmarried, tend to outlive men, making married women vulnerable when they suddenly become single. At 85 and older, twice as many women as men are still alive.**
(** According to the latest Census Bureau findings.)

Luckily, Paula Taylor had a long term care insurance policy to help with care expenses not covered by ordinary health insurance. Seeing first-hand the value of the protection, she became passionate about helping other women, as well as men, "be aware of the need to consider long term care in their financial planning," as she puts it. She earned certification as a long term care insurance broker and is now a Partner in Truesdell's organizations.

During this period she bought a second policy because she didn't think she had enough coverage. This turned out to be fortunate. Recently, as fate would have it, she had another accident, breaking her leg a second time. "Someone ran a red light and smashed my car," she says. "Yes, my beautiful new Prius. Not so bad; no one hurt."

But that's not the end of the story. "The tow truck driver gave me a ride home. When getting out of the tow truck, I did not realize how high it was and essentially stepped into air. Fell to the ground onto my leg. I hoped for a sprain but got a small fracture. Small but big enough to disrupt my life again." Her two long term care insurance policies were in place to cushion the blow. Though unable to walk or drive, she can work; and her policies allow her to hire help so she can perform her duties at home. "Without that help, I would have to go to a facility. No one wants that."

As more women like her face crises and bounce back, long term care insurance is available to help them, says Truesdell. "It's becoming a tool of self-reliance as America moves away from traditional forms of support, whether provided by a partner or government."

Information on long term care insurance is available at LTC Hotline, manned by Truesdell's organization: www.ltchotline.com.
CHICAGO, Ill. - Sept. 14 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- singlemamahood.com, a new blog and toolkit, launches with a "Free Advice" service for single mothers -- moms who are unmarried, divorced, widowed or separated. The singlemamahood(TM) mission is "reducing drama for the single mama."

It is the brainchild of Kelly Williams, a single mom, motivational speaker, parent educator and author of Single Mamahood, Advice and Wisdom for the African American Single Mother (Citadel).

*(Photo Caption: single mom motivator Kelly Williams.)

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, while fewer teens are having babies, the number of single moms is growing. The center reports more than two-thirds of African American new mothers are unmarried and the percentage of all women in the U.S. giving birth who do not have husbands exceeds one-third.

"There is plenty of debate about moral, societal and economic issues surrounding single mother-headed households. Meantime, single mamas are dealing with the here and now. singlemamhood.com does not encourage women to become single moms, it deals with single parenting as a fact of life and provides practical support," Williams said. "Single moms want to be good mothers; singlemamahood.com is in essence an easy-to-access toolkit to help them."

A single mama herself, whose son is now in college, Williams is writing her second self-help book for single moms. The website is her answer to numerous requests during her parent education workshops and seminars for a source for affordable, realistic, timely advice.
Partnership between National Women's Health Resource Center and Author Rachel Weingarten Promotes Beauty from the Inside Out

NEW YORK, NY - May 17 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Noted beauty expert, marketing guru, and author Rachel Weingarten and the National Women's Health Resource Center (NWHRC) will be partnering on a new initiative to encourage young women to take as much interest in their health and self esteem as they do in their appearance. A kick off cocktail party and book signing event scheduled for May 20, 2006, will be held at cult 14th & U Street corridor's fashion and lifestyle boutique Muleh. The event takes place during the annual Book Expo America (BEA) conference, which takes place in Washington, D.C.

Weingarten's new book: "Hello Gorgeous! Beauty Products in America, '40s-'60s" (ISBN: 1933112182, Collectors Press, 5/06) is a chic social commentary on beauty advertising, and combines her marketing and beauty industry background. The book explores the beauty culture past and present, women's evolving spending power in America while highlighting the exhortations and beauty products geared to women in the mid last century and into our own times.

Weingarten believes that NWHRC is a perfect fit as a charity partner for the book. "As modern women we're finally starting to realize that beauty is more than just about how we look, it's about how we feel and it starts from within. While Hollywood and the cult of celebrity would have us believe that it's all about the exteriors, NWHRC is committed to improving women's lives through health education- making their brains as sexy as their bodies. I can't think of a more gorgeous message."

Elizabeth Battaglino Cahill, Executive Director of NWHRC adds: "We're thrilled to partner with Rachel on this great book, message and launch. We've worked with Rachel for years, and we're collectively committed to trying to improve self image in young women, and educate them to the issues that concern them most."

While the partnership message is serious, the Muleh event is about fun. The fashionable evening at Muleh will include shopping (a percentage of all sales made will benefit NWHRC) cocktails, chocolates provided by Godiva, and a grand prize by Caron Paris. The burgeoning Washington scene is a perfect spot for the partnership cocktail party to take place. Muleh owner Christopher Reiter says: "We see women in the Washington area taking a greater interest in fashion today. The timing of Hello Gorgeous! is perfect - glamour is back."

Well, Hello Gorgeous!

The book also includes commentary by industry experts including Joy Behar co-host of "The View", cosmetic entrepreneurs Bobbi Brown, Jean and Jane Ford, and Dr. Nicholas Perricone, Musician Ben Lee, professional athlete Rebecca Lobo and numerous advertising, marketing and magazine insiders.

Hello Gorgeous! has received enthusiastic advance praise including from Bust Magazine: "Take a look at this sweet mid-century beauty book...[which] reclaims the beauty boom as a girls' club, paying homage to beauty moguls Estee Lauder, Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden," as well as being one of Publishers Weekly's featured picks for Spring '06. The book is published in a softcover edition that retails for $14.95. It will be available in late May 2006 online or from major bookstores and retailers, or from the Hello Gorgeous! store at www.hellogorgeousguide.com.
CLEVELAND, OH (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Women's History Month pays tribute to inspiring women of the past and those who continue to motivate and uphold that legacy today. Cookie Lommel, Executive Director of the Western Region for the Jewish Labor Committee, denotes such exemplary leadership, and is also the first African-American woman to lead such a group into the future. The Los Angeles Times referred to her as "a one-woman bridge."

The Jewish Labor Committee is an independent secular organization that helps the Jewish community and the trade union movement work together on important issues of shared interest and concern.

*(Photo Caption: Image of Cookie Lommel.)

"African-American women are at the nexus of multiple forms of oppression, which puts us in the unique position of being able to engage diverse communities, in understanding our global society, Pamela Brooks, Assistant Professor of African American Studies at Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH, explained. "These natural abilities stem from who we are."

Before Lommel's work with the Jewish Labor Committee, she was the founder of "Operation Unity," (www.operationunity.org), a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles - its mission to promote cultural understanding in urban youth through international and national programs. "Operation Unity" uses the model of the successful Israeli Kibbutz system as a vehicle to change the lives of young people.

Lommel, born in Cleveland, has returned to her hometown to promote "Operation Unity," in a traveling exhibit called "Youth Capturing Cultural Diversity." The photos in the exhibit were taken by youth who participated in Kibbutz programs, and Parma City School students. The exhibit is being displayed in celebration of Black and Women's History Month at the Parmatown Mall, in Parma OH. The sponsors are The Samuel H. and Maria Miller Foundation and Forest City Enterprises, Inc. It will also be traveling to other locations throughout Ohio and these locales will soon be announced.

"This exhibit tells a great cultural diversity story. It paints a visual and verbal picture of how youth can help bridge racial gaps and work together, promoting harmony through diversity," explains Lommel. "In the wake of the death of Coretta Scott King, the commemoration of Women's History Month through "Operation Unity" becomes even more relevant and highlights what Mrs. King lived for and what Dr. King died for - understanding between cultures."

Lommel is also the author of several books about notable, African Americans such as Madame C.J. Walker and James Oglethorpe which can be ordered on www.Amazon.com. She has earned a number of awards for her outreach efforts and has worked in various media capacities as a journalist and editor.

To tour the exhibit, visit the Parmatown Mall at 7899 W. Ridgewood Drive; Mall hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
CHICAGO, IL (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Black author launches "The Girls Club" to empower women to better deal with and understand the opposite sex. When Chicago author, Carrie Carr, came across a fascinating book that shed the light on the male dilemma, she was so impressed, she felt compelled to share the title with every woman she knew.

Author attests to having many friends who are in less than desirable romantic relationships, some even damaging to their self-worth. Every week, she witnesses women being treated as doormats by men. The turning point came for Carr when her good friend in New York City swore her boyfriend would love her forever because she put him through law school while she worked as the sole bread winner. One thing Carr has learned is that men appreciate you more for the less you do for them and that's just the beginning.
