Tower Records Spins Down Pulse magazine
Nov. 8, 2002 Music and video retailer Tower Records has shut down its long-running entertainment magazine, Pulse, available free at Tower stores and by paid mail subscriptions. The December issue will be the last. The mag with a circulation of 280,000 was retired due to lack of advertising, and a net loss for the company's fiscal year ending July 2002.

Time Inc. Closes Sports Illustrated Women October 17, 2002 According to an article published in the New York Times, Time Inc. shut down the money-losing Sports Illustrated Women magazine on October 16. The magazine was published as a companion to the long-running Sports Illustrated, focusing on female sports figures, and was published 10 times a year.
Another Tech-Financial Magazine Shuts Down Due to Poor Advertising Market October 9, 2002 Upside magazine today announced it was closing down its print periodical, one of the best publications covering the financial and tech markets over the past decade (it launched in 1989). Information Today Launching New Multimedia Mag for Schools

Bauer to Launch New Entertainment Magazine
PRnetwire October 4, 2002 The U.S. arm of German media giant Bauer Publishing Group plans to launch a new magazine in the highly competitive entertainment magazine market dominated by titles such as People and US Weekly. In Touch Weekly magazine will debut on newsstands Oct. 25. 1.5 million copies of the first issue will be distributed but Bauer hopes to have a regular distribution of 1 million. Bauer publishes other magazines such as First, Woman's World, Twist, J-14 and Soap Opera Update.

Rosie Pulls the Plug on Namesake Print Magazine; Dec. 2002 Last Issue
PRnetwire September 18, 2002 Rosie Magazine will cease publication in Dec., after Rosie O'Donnell announced today she is withdrawing her support, due to assertions the publisher Gruner+Jahr (G+J) has been taking control away from her. The publisher counter-claimed Rosie had abandoned active participation in the magazine. The magazine debuted April 2001. Rosie retired her Daytime-Emmy winning talk show in May. Former FHM Editor Revamps Rolling Stone Magazine, Latest Issue Has Shorter Pieces and More Reviews
