BROOKLYN, NY - May 25 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Schnack Restaurant (www.schnackdog.com) is proud to announce its 1st Annual Stahl-Meyer Hot Dog Eating Contest, sponsored by Ferris Stahl-Meyer. The contest will start at 1pm at Schnack, 122 Union St., Brooklyn, NY 11231. Additional sponsors include: NY Water Taxi, American Stevedoring, Jever Pilsener Beer & Caputo's Bakery.

Schnack's contestants will eat a SINGLE 30-inch Stahl-Meyer hot dog; the first one to finish wins. The 28 inch bun is custom made for the contest by Caputo's Bakery.
Early this month Schnack held open heats and have the semi-final eaters ready to go. Who will be the Champ?
Our rules are simple.
1) No deconstructing of the dog and/or bun.
2) Breaking off portions of the dog and bun together are allowed.
3) Swallowing without sufficient chewing is grounds for disqualification (based solely on the judges' determination).
4) The contest is open to any person of 18 years or older, in good health, who is not affiliated with Schnack or any of the sponsors or competitors.
5) Contestants and winner agree to allow use of their likeness in advertising and promotion before, during and after the contest.
6) Contestants 21 years or older can wash down their dog with a cold mug of Jever Pilsener beer during or after the contest.
The Dog:
Many hot dogs have received their start in NYC but the Stahl-Meyer dog is still made in the Bronx as it has been since 1836. Schnack's contest dog is Stahl-Meyer's regular "flavored for New York" hot dog custom-made in NYC into a 30-inch dog. The NY Times called this hot dog, "...snappy with underlying garlic and spicy flavors..." As served at Schnack, it was rated the #1 hot dog in NYC 2003 by the Village Voice.
The Bun:
Caputo's Bakery has been baking in Brooklyn since 1905; they are making a custom 28 inch hot dog bun for this contest and for the preliminary events.
The Prize:
The winner will receive prizes from the NY Water Taxi, Stahl-Meyer, Caputo's, Jever Pilsener Beer and Schnack. Schnack $100 Gift Cert., Stahl-Meyer $200 check, American Stevedoring $100 check, NY Watertaxi tickets and t-shirts and hats worth $150.00, Jever Pilsner GIFT (TBA), Caputo's Bakery Gift Certificate amount (TBA).
FREE Food and BEER:
Everyone can try one of our dogs, as we are giving away for free, regular Stahl-Meyer hot dogs from 11am to 1pm on Memorial Day. At 2pm to close we are selling the same dogs for 1/2 price AND person who orders at least one dog gets a free 8 ounces of Jever Pilsner Beer.
Location:
The preliminary heats where held at Schnack, 122 Union St on the 21st and 22nd of May. We have a bunch of really fast eaters and they are ready to go!
The final event will be held here as well. It starts @ 1pm.
