Patent-Pending Biometric Fingerprint System to Process Jail Inmates for 1,200 Bed Facility in Tallahassee, FL
ATLANTA, GA and TALLAHASSEE, FL - July 26 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- M2SYS Technology, an innovator in biometric technology research and development, announced today that the Leon County Detention Center in Tallahassee, Florida has selected the M2SYS fingerprint recognition solution for use within its 1,200-bed facility. The biometric system is integrated into the county's correctional facility management software, which was developed in-house.

M2SYS' patent-pending fingerprint recognition solution called Bio-Plugin(TM) enables software developers to immediately implement a complete, seamless fingerprint recognition system, including a high-performance 1:N identification engine. Bio-Plugin(TM) eliminates the system dependencies, extensive development, and specialized knowledge of biometric complexities inherent to fingerprint technology SDKs. This model allows software developers to remain focused on their core product, and alleviates the burdens associated with maintaining an internally developed fingerprint system that is intricately combined with the host application.
The Bio-Plugin(TM) solution was rapidly integrated into Leon County's correctional facility software in under one week, replacing their attempt to build a system using a low level SDK, which proved to be extremely challenging. Dedicated M2SYS engineers worked closely with the county's IT department to develop a custom solution that seamlessly communicates with their Java based application.
The fingerprint module allows jail officers to identify new inmates and visitors, track inmate movement throughout the facility, and verify identity prior to release. Inmates and visitors simply place one finger from each hand on the reader, and their record is automatically displayed within the Leon County software.
"After two months of attempting to develop our own solution using a fingerprint SDK we realized the M2SYS system would substantially reduce our internal development efforts and associated costs," mentioned Hermon Davis, IT Coordinator for Leon County. "As a completely developed, enterprise-ready fingerprint recognition system, Bio-Plugin(TM) was simple for our engineers to integrate. And, without costly internal maintenance requirements, we can remain focused on supporting and enhancing our core software. We now have a dependable means of identifying inmates and visitors, which improves officer productivity, reduces liability, and bolsters the security of our facility."
"Our partnership with Leon County is a testimony to the value derived from using Bio-Plugin(TM) instead of an SDK," noted Michael Trader, President of M2SYS. "With this valuable investment, Leon County was able to immediately resolve their previous internal development challenges and implement a system that has been proven to be effective in the public safety industry. Now their engineers are free to focus on other internal development initiatives and have gained a trusted expert in the field of biometrics research and development to continue providing the most advanced fingerprint recognition technology."
