Overseas Shippers Association Optimizes Ocean Freight Decisions with Rate Explorer

Specialist European association to offer Management Dynamics' contract and price management solution as a value-added service to members
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - September 21 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Management Dynamics, Inc., a leading provider of on-demand solutions for global transportation and supply chain management, today announced that the Overseas Shippers Association (OSA), a specialist network of international moving and relocation companies, is implementing Rate Explorer for use by its worldwide membership for ocean contract and quotation management.
Established in 1994 as a spin-off from the Overseas Moving Network International (Omni) and based in the UK, OSA is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping its members negotiate effectively with liner shipping companies to move household and commercial goods across six continents. Rate Explorer will automate OSA's ocean carrier service contracts and allow its 150 members to instantly access over 7,000 rates and associated tariff information in order to prepare accurate and timely quotations for customers.
Management Dynamics' Rate Explorer provides member companies with a centralized repository of available rates and routings under contract with OSA. Members can quickly calculate complete bottom-line shipping costs because Rate Explorer links to the carrier's rules tariffs to ensure all applicable surcharges, general rate increases and other add-on charges are included in the total cost. In addition, the system enables members to compare multiple rate and route options side-by-side in order to offer greater choice to customers as well as optimize booking decisions.
As a web-based application, Rate Explorer will be made available to members via the association's intranet, which will help simplify contract administration, reducing paperwork and improving back-office productivity. Rate Explorer will also help member companies to improve the accuracy of their financial statements and efficiently audit freight bills to eliminate carrier invoice overcharges and protect member profits.
