TD Banknorth Chairman, President and CEO to Speak at New England-Canada Business Council Luncheon Meeting
BOSTON, MA - Oct. 4 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- William J. Ryan, Chairman, President and CEO of TD Banknorth Inc., will speak at the New England-Canada Business Council ("NECBC") luncheon on Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at 11:30 a.m. at The Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston.
Mr. Ryan will address NECBC guests on the TD Banknorth story and the company's alliance with Toronto Dominion Bank. TD Banknorth, a majority-owned subsidiary of TD Bank Financial Group, is a $28 billion holding company. TD Banknorth conducts business from its headquarters in Portland, Maine, with more than 400 banking offices in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont and upstate New York. The company is one of the 30 largest commercial banking organizations in the United States.
Mr. Ryan has a quarter-century of banking experience, joining Banknorth in 1989. Prior to joining Banknorth, he served as President of the Bank of New England North in Lowell, Massachusetts, and as Executive Vice President of Community Banking for the Bank of New England in Boston.
Mr. Ryan serves as a Director and Vice Chairman of TD Bank Financial Group, as well as a Director of WellPoint, Inc. and UnumProvident Corporation. He also serves as a Trustee of Colby College and the Libra Foundation. He is on the Board of Advisors at the University of New England, and participates in various other civic and professional activities.
The New England-Canada Business Council, Inc. was formed in 1981 to bring together businesses and individuals with an interest in the relationship and, more specifically, New England-Canada political, business and cultural issues. Today, the Council's membership is composed of business leaders from a wide range of sectors including banking, law, consulting, energy, and high technology, as well as government and academic officials and individuals with links to Canada.
