The Newcomen Society Names Dan Malloy New Chairman
EXTON, PA (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The Newcomen Society of the United States is pleased to announce that Mr. Daniel V. Malloy was recently elected as Chairman of their Board of Trustees. Mr. Malloy currently leads the Financial Risk Management practice of Benfield Inc., one of the world's leading reinsurance intermediaries.
A leader in the reinsurance industry for over 25 years, Mr. Malloy's experience includes executive positions with Centre Re, where he served as President of Centre Re Bermuda and Chief Underwriting Officer of the Zurich Re North America Finite Team, and President and CEO of Stockton Reinsurance Limited, Bermuda. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dartmouth College in 1981 and has served on the Newcomen Society board of directors since 2003.
After serving as Chairman of the Newcomen Society for eight years and as a Newcomen board member for nearly ten years, Mr. Richard W. ("Dick") Pogue stepped aside as Chairman at the Newcomen Society Annual Meeting to devote additional time to other interests. Mr.Pogue will continue to serve on Newcomen's board and was recently elected Secretary of the Society on an interim basis. Mr. Pogue currently serves as an Advisor to Jones Day, the second largest law firm in the United States. As Managing Partner of Jones Day for nine years (1984-1992), he helped the firm grow from 335 lawyers in five domestic offices to 1,225 lawyers in twenty offices worldwide. He continues to serve his firm in the client relations area, and as chair or trustee of various organizations in the civic, economic development, and higher education fields.
"I've enjoyed meeting and working with our members and trustees because they truly understand the value of the American free enterprise system and the history behind it," stated Dick Pogue, "and I will continue to support this fine organization."
"We are poised to face many interesting challenges and terrific opportunities in 2006," stated Leighton A. Wildrick, President and CEO of The Newcomen Society. "We anticipate a productive and successful year. While we look forward to Dan's leadership to assist and guide us in our important work, we are equally appreciative of Dick Pogue's many years of dedicated guidance and support."
