Media Advisory - Special Event at the Tempe Improv Benefits Homeless Pets
Published: Mon, 30 Oct 2006, 21:32:00 EDT
TEMPE, Ariz. - Oct. 30 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The first annual Comedy for Canines event will be held at the Tempe Improv on Nov. 15, from 5 - 10 p.m. The event will feature comedy from Mark Cordes & Friends with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Animal Safe Hospice (MASH) and Animal Rescue Center (ARC).
Sheriff Joe Arpaio's no-kill shelter, MASH, was created to house and care for animals that have been abused or neglected by their caretakers, and that have been rescued by the Animal Cruelty Investigative Unit. The purpose of the shelter is to provide for these tragic animals, who must necessarily await the outcome of their owners' cruelty cases in court.

Animal Rescue Center is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization. This no-kill shelter has been in existence since April 2004. The shelter endeavors daily to find homes for lost or unwanted cats and dogs, those that have been cast away by society and are in danger of being euthanized.
In addition to five comedic performances, the event will include a silent and a live auction, as well as a "Doghouse Building Competition" where the audience decides the winner. The Houses will then be auctioned off with all proceeds going to animal rescues in Arizona. There are 6 entries and 2 are from inmates in the Arizona prison system.
Event Information
All tickets for Comedy for Canines are $30.00 and must be purchased in advance. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed into the event.
