For Parents and Families: Winter is the Time to Plan for Summer Camp
RCSN Annual Special Camp Fair Saturday January 26, 2013
NEW YORK, N.Y., Jan. 2, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- It may be hard to believe, but the time to think about summer camp is now - especially for parents of children with special needs. Camps open registration in the winter, and space and financial assistance is limited. By March, many camps are already full. Parents can meet experts from over 70 summer programs serving children and teens with special needs at the FREE 28th Annual RCSN Special Camp Fair on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (the Church of St. Paul the Apostle, entrance on Columbus Ave./W. 60th St. Manhattan).
Over 4,000 people attend the Fair every year. The Fair is presented by Resources for Children with Special Needs, (212) 677-4650 ext. 18, www.resourcesnyc.org .
Representatives from over 70 summer programs will help parents and professionals plan successful summer experiences for children with disabilities, including those who need special supports. Summer camp is a critical way to help close the "summer learning gap."
The Fair will feature both day camps (New York City) and sleepaway camps (Tri-State area). The Fair will also offer information on tutoring programs, travel programs, remedial education programs, volunteer and job opportunities, and early childhood programs. Spanish and sign language interpreters will be available.
Visitors to the Fair will receive a free digital copy of RCSN's "Camps 2013 Directory." More information is available at http://resourcesnyc.org/event/camps2013 .
