PRESS RELEASE:
New Book on Strategies for Differentiated Instruction for Learning Disabled and ESL Students Provides Insight to Improving Public Education
Thu, 27 Oct 2005, 14:51:00 EST
LOS ANGELES, CA (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Universal Publishers today announced the publication of "Success Education: Differentiated Curriculum Strategies for ESL and Learning Disabled Students" (ISBN 1-58112-498-8), by Steve P. Jefferson, Ed. D. and Bettye Sweet, M.S., a book filled with "reality based" classroom strategies that can create a positive learning environment for today's learners.
Unlike a one-size-fits-all curriculum where all students are expected to learn the same materials, in the same way, in the same amount of time, differentiated instruction provides options. This book uses an array of instructional strategies, including multiple texts and supplementary materials, reality learning games, group investigations, and flexible evaluation.
In addition, Dr. Jefferson and Ms. Sweet's new book provides a variety of lesson plans on differentiated instruction that will make any teacher's life easier. This book is written to help both new and veteran teachers make classroom lessons engaging and fun again.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Steve P. Jefferson, Ed. D, has served the Los Angeles Unified School District as a teacher, Resource Specialist Coordinator, and Research and Evaluation Analyst for greater than ten years. He has been a guest lecturer on differentiated instruction and learning styles at a number of secondary schools and has conducted workshops on brain research at various school districts and colleges in Los Angeles. Dr. Jefferson is also the author of "Charter Schools: A Descriptive Study of Empowerment within the Operation of Charter Schools."
Bettye Sweet, M.S. has been an accomplished teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District the past eight years. For her dedicated work with "at-risk" children, Ms. Sweet has received media coverage from the Los Angeles Times and CBS Television. Ms. Sweet has also authored two books: "Growing UP LA Style: Bryon" and "Survivor to Thriver: A Mother's Journey toward Peace after Her Son's Murder."
