TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec, May 26 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The month of May proved to be a major turning point for the Narconon network with the recent discovery of a drug education lecture recorded in 1968, by Narconon founder William Benitez. His lecture, which could have very well been an original drug education lecture for Narconon, proved to be a very inspiring story of one man’s ability to pull out of a 19-year-long life threatening addiction. The story of William Benitez is so real that any former addict can relate to it. In fact, a graduate of the Narconon Trois-Rivieres drug rehab program shares how he related to what Mr. Benitez had experienced.

“I graduated the Narconon rehab program in 2005, after battling a drug addiction for 11 years,” comments Nick. “After recently watching the lecture by William Benitez, I can clearly see why he created the Narconon program. Prior to attending the Narconon program I was evaluated and treated by so many different doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, addictions counselors, anybody that had a certificate hanging on the wall, I gave them an opportunity to help me out. I also went down the road of attending AA meetings, and then started attending Duel Diagnosis programs while living in Vancouver, Canada, because I was labeled manic-depressive and was on different medications since I was 18 years old. I can fully understand Benitez’s frustration of being poked and probed by different professionals all saying the same thing; yet, getting no results.”

It was a turning point for Narconon founder William Benitez when he decided, in that prison cell, that he would start a new therapy group, and call it Narconon, meaning Narcotics-non. Little did Mr. Benitez know, that his development would later save tens of thousands of lives, and help people across the world beat their drug addiction.

“I am grateful for what this guy did,” says Nick. “He was able to not give up on himself. When I was down and out, I wanted to end it all, I made attempts at suicide and I had given up on myself. I don’t even remember arriving at Narconon Trois-Rivieres four years ago. What William Benitez accomplished, and looking at how far it has gone, having worldwide recognition. This is an astounding achievement. When he talked to these kids at the Scottsdale High School in this video in 1968, he was able to give them real life examples. Here was a man that actually beat addiction; it was not somebody that just learned about it in a book. If I saw that as a teenager, I know I would have related to it, and more then likely would have made some different decisions in my life.”

The Narconon program has grown to 150 different centers in over 40 different countries, and continues to rehabilitate people, service local communities, and provide drug education to millions.
