SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Sept. 14 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Jeannie Huckstep CPA has been named to serve as chair of the Information Technology Committee for the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, or MSCPA, for its 2010-2012 term. Huckstep is the founder of Huckstep and Associates, LLC (huckstep.com<\/a>), a CPA and software technology consulting firm based in Springfield, Missouri. <\/p>\n

Huckstep’s appointment to the Information Technology Committee chair is the latest culmination of a career wedded in equal measure to the pursuit of technology and public accounting. “I began my technology career in 1992 as a business partner for MIP Fund Accounting, which was later acquired by Sage,” Huckstep says. “Like a lot of CPAs around that time, I saw tremendous potential in what technology could bring to smaller companies and non-profits.”<\/p>\n

Huckstep is also a member of Information Technology Alliance, a national association of IT professionals committed to sharing technology consulting best practices. She served on the organization’s national conference planning committee on three separate occasions. “ITA has been a great resource for me as I’ve developed my software technology practice,” she says.<\/p>\n

“With our emphasis on Sage MIP, we’ve accumulated non-profit and government customers across the country. My experience planning ITA’s annual conferences eventually led me to launch my own conference on software technology for non-profits and government entities. This year’s conference is in St. Louis October 20-22, 2010.”<\/p>\n

In 2008, Huckstep earned a CITP designation, which stands for Certified Information Technology Professional, from the AICPA. It was the latest achievement in a career marked by technology proficiency and accounting acumen. “I’m excited to begin my term as Chair of the Information Technology Committee,” she says. “It will allow me to pursue my twin passions of technology and accounting in a way that benefits all MSCPA members.”<\/p>\n
