Now being referred to as AEO (Answer Engine Optimization and\/or AI engine optimization), the process involves two common endeavors:<\/p>\n

- ensuring press release content has relevant \u201canswers\u201d as part of the page text \u2013 this might entail tailoring content to those searching for \u201ctake out tacos in San Diego,\u201d which is not really that different than traditional SEO.<\/li>\n
- doing custom searches and queries into the top AI engines, including ChatGPT web search, ChatGPT query, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Copilot.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
For the second element, what we call \u201cAI Seeding,\u201d these \u201cdone by hand\u201d (not automated) queries include client news full-text announcements, and keywords related to company name, brand\/product, quoted company principals (e.g., CEO, COO), website links, and product image as applicable.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile it\u2019s not clear doing this kind of seeding work is always effective, it has apparently helped some clients\u2019 brands better \u2018resolve\u2019 in direct AI queries, and anecdotal mentions for related queries, based on our own experiments the past 15 months,\u201d said Send2Press co-founder, Christopher Simmons. \u201cOur sense is that this is, as with most marketing, an incremental benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n
