Perry today announced that his film \u201cEmpty Box of Wine\u201d has won first prize in the category \u201cBest Animation\u201d in the 12th Annual Action on Film International Film Festival. Perry is the lead singer in Jour Majesty, who last year rose to #2 on the indie folk charts; his entry into the film festival accompanies the upcoming Jour Majesty album, \u201cEmpty Box of Wine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.send2press.com\/wire\/images\/16-0913-mcperry-action-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"Michael C. Inspired by a chance meeting in a hotel lobby that stirred up one of Perry\u2019s favorite lines from Hemingway\u2019s classic \u201cA Moveable Feast\u201d &#8212; \u201cShe was very pretty with a face fresh as a newly minted coin if they minted coins in smooth flesh with rain-freshened skin, and her hair black as a crow&#8217;s wing and cut sharply and diagonally across her cheek\u201d &#8212; the film captures the spirit of San Francisco as seen through Perry\u2019s eyes that day: wet, ephemeral and very much alive.<\/p>\n<p>Famed UK music journalist Alex Faulkner has compared Jour Majesty\u2019s music to the \u201crootsy Americana\u201d of The Band as well as more modern artists, such as Ryan Adams.<\/p>\n<p>The organic result of Perry\u2019s successful commercial career in film, animation and audio engineering, combined with his band Jour Majesty\u2019s many recent successes, \u201cEmpty Box of Wine\u201d sparks a captivating conversation about the fleeting infatuations that compose the days, months and years of our lives.<\/p>\n<p>The Action on Film International Film Festival ran September 2 through the 9th; screenings were held at the Krikorian Monrovia Cinema 12 &amp; LFX.
