{"id":72313,"date":"2021-06-02T06:00:56","date_gmt":"2021-06-02T10:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.send2press.com\/wire\/?p=72313"},"modified":"2021-06-01T22:56:57","modified_gmt":"2021-06-02T02:56:57","slug":"doggy-dash-with-the-sacramento-spca-on-june-5-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.send2press.com\/wire\/doggy-dash-with-the-sacramento-spca-on-june-5-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Doggy Dash with the Sacramento SPCA on June 5, 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SACRAMENTO, Calif., June 2, 2021 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) &#8212; The Sacramento SPCA is hosting their annual Doggy\u00a0Dash on Saturday, June 5, 2021 \u2013 and this year is sure to offer more than just another walk in the park.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.send2press.com\/wire\/images\/21-0602-doggy-dash-2021-696x522.jpg\" alt=\"SSPCA Doggy Dash 2021\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-72307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.send2press.com\/wire\/images\/21-0602-doggy-dash-2021-696x522.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.send2press.com\/wire\/images\/21-0602-doggy-dash-2021-696x522-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Now celebrating its 28th anniversary, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sspca.org\/dash\">Sacramento SPCA\u2019s Doggy\u00a0Dash<\/a>\u00a0has grown into Northern California\u2019s largest 2K\/5K dog walk and pet festival \u2013 with a goal this year to raise\u00a0$150,000 in registrations and donations to support the life-saving programs that help animals and the people who love them in the Sacramento region.\u00a0Donations from last year\u2019s Doggy\u00a0Dash\u00a0helped the Sacramento SPCA provide care to the more than 30,000 animals that entered their doors in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>With restrictions still in place for large group events, the Sacramento SPCA is hosting its largest community event and fundraiser of the year virtually for a second year in a row. \u201cJust because we can\u2019t walk side by side, doesn\u2019t mean we can\u2019t still walk together to save lives,\u201d said Dawn Foster, Sacramento SPCA Marketing &amp; Communications Director.<\/p>\n<p>An estimated 5,000 animal lovers usually gather at William Land Park for this special event each year, with and without their canine companions \u2013 to raise funds for animals at the Sacramento SPCA and enjoy pet-friendly vendors, demonstrations, contests, food trucks, beer garden, local entertainment and more!<\/p>\n<p>Pet enthusiasts living far and wide are encouraged to join\u00a0the Sacramento SPCA on June 5, 2021 from their homes, neighborhoods, parks and trails for the 2k\/5k walk and also connect online\u00a0to share photos and enjoy the\u00a0event\u2019s live broadcast and pet festival. \u201cBy participating in our own communities, people and their dogs (and even cats!) who would not normally be able to participate at William Land Park, can now do so,\u201d added Foster.<\/p>\n<p>The virtual event will be broadcast from the shelter\u2019s\u00a0Facebook\u00a0page\u00a0at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SacSPCA\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SacSPCA<\/a> at 9 a.m. on June 5, 2021; participants will hear from Sacramento SPCA CEO, Kenn Altine and GoodDay Sacramento&#8217;s Courtney Dempsey as they share how the Sacramento SPCA is helping animals and people in the Sacramento region and beyond, followed by a very special tour through the new Zoe K. McCrea Animal Health Center before officially kicking-off the 2k\/5k walk.<\/p>\n<p>Doggy Dashers are encouraged to share photos and video of them and their dogs walking and participating in the event\u2019s activities throughout the day using the hashtag #SSPCADASH2021.<\/p>\n<p>As the only full-service 100% non-profit animal shelter in the Sacramento region, the Sacramento SPCA relies on donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations to support their life-saving work.
