\u201cTrue joy and happiness are valuable,\u201d begins\u00a0The Way to Happiness,\u00a0a common-sense guide to better living, written\u00a0<\/em>by author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard in 1981.<\/p>\n Some 200 years earlier, Thomas Jefferson penned the Declaration of Independence including the pursuit of happiness as an unalienable right.<\/p>\n And in 2011, the\u00a0UN General Assembly\u00a0<\/a>echoed these concepts by adopting a\u00a0resolution<\/a>\u00a0recognizing happiness as a \u201cfundamental human goal.\u201d<\/p>\n But is there a way to achieve happiness \u2014 a tool by which anyone may guarantee or improve his or her chances of benefiting from this cherished state? That is the purpose of\u00a0The Way to Happiness\u00a0and the reason the booklet has inspired an international movement.<\/p>\n \u201cHappiness lies in engaging in worthwhile activities,\u201d\u00a0wrote Mr. Hubbard in the epilogue of\u00a0The Way to Happiness,\u00a0<\/em>a book\u00a0containing 21 basic principles or precepts that \u201cpoint the way to a less dangerous and happier life.\u201d So on International Day of Happiness, the Mejora Foundation and volunteers from Scientology Churches and Missions of Spain joined Scientologists and like-minded people the world over who marked the day by sharing this booklet in their neighborhoods and the busy streets of their cities.<\/p>\n They encouraged those they shared the booklet with to give copies to friends whose happiness is important to them. And they invited them to take a free online course<\/a> on The Way to Happiness Foundation website.<\/p>\n They also suggested they visit the Scientology Network<\/a>, which features the award-winning\u00a0The Way to Happiness\u00a0book on film<\/a> in 17 languages. The network also documents the work of humanitarians who use\u00a0The Way to Happiness\u00a0<\/em>to uplift their communities and countries.<\/p>\n Episodes show how the booklet helped:<\/strong><\/p>\n Foundacion Mejora (Foundation for the Improvement of Life, Culture and Society) was established in 2015 by the Church of Scientology of Spain<\/a>. It is registered in that country\u2019s National Registry of Foundations. And in 2019 it achieved consultive status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council<\/a>, ECOSOC, one of the six principal organs of the\u00a0United Nations<\/a>.<\/p>\n The National Church of Scientology of Spain was dedicated in 2004 by Scientology ecclesiastical leader\u00a0Mr. David Miscavige<\/a>.
