Important notes about ChatGPT

Hello!

In 2025 we have seen a notable increase in press release projects submitted for distribution which were created in ChatGPT. This generally works well, with some notable “errors” you should address prior to submitting to us.

(1) Divider lines: ChatGPT inserts divider lines between sections which you should remove as not used in actual press releases.

(2) Adding unwanted tracking links: ChatGPT does another annoying thing of adding tracking links to your URLs in the release when created, so a link like mysite.ooo becomes mysite.ooo?utm=chatgpt.com – which must be removed (we will remove them if you leave them in).

(3) Too many em-dashes: It’s commonly known ChatGPT likes to use em-dashes quite a bit, and you may wish to review, where a comma, semicolon, or period might be better choice. For clarity online, we typically do long dashes as word — word (word space long-dash space word), and not word—word (no spaces as in traditional books).

(4) Favicons/icons not supported: Some ChatGPT and similar tools will insert tiny icon graphics like telephone, envelope, green checkboxes, etc., and these should all be removed as not supported in press releases.

(5) Website links: AI tools like ChatGPT can often neglect to include links to your website and product landing page, because you forgot to tell them to. So, be sure to add them!

(6) Indented quotes: It’s not normal practice to have quotes indented as paragraphs (e.g., “We love puppies,” said CEO John Smith), as there are no tabs/indents in press releases.

(7) Humanize AI: You can try the free ChatGPT “humanize AI” page here to make your generated text less, well “AI” — https://chatgpt.com/g/g-rZ2w3hTcJ-humanize-ai-text?locale=en-US
