CERILLOS, N.M., Oct. 2, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Noted abstraction fine artist Cindy Walton, Asheville, N.C., has been chosen as one of 49 encaustic and wax artists from across the United States to show her selected work, “Wind Swept,” at the Third Annual Juried Encaustic/Wax Exhibition of the Encaustic Art Institute in New Mexico.

The painting, “Wind Swept,” is a color-driven work in Walton’s signature style in the cold wax medium on panel. Cold wax consists of a beeswax paste mixed with oil paints for a matte, layered texture. “Wind Swept” comprises a stand-out work in the medium.

“So many times, I begin a painting with little or no idea where it will travel in its creation,” says Walton. “‘Wind Swept’ evolved through many layers, but the movement of the painting is wonderful and surprised me.”

About the Artist:
Walton’s inspired use of color has been previously compared favorably with that of renowned colorist Hans Hoffman in a 2011 Asheville Museum of Art exhibit. Among artists, she is known for her mastery of technique and style, and her workshops for professional artists, including two residencies with the prestigious Ghost Ranch in 2012 and 2013.

Wind Swept With a growing reputation as a significant artist to watch, demand for Walton’s work continues to increase among discerning collectors regionally, nationally and abroad. Accepted to the juried National Association of Women Artists in 2011, Walton enjoys emerging prestige as an artist with increasing significance in the national arena.

Since 2006, she remains a fellow in the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, with support from the Karen Shea Silverman Foundation Endowment, at the Creative Retreat, Mount San Angelo, Amherst, Va.

Walton will attend the exhibition opening. For more information on Cindy Walton, visit http://www.cindywalton.com/.
