CHICAGO, IL – April 10 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — On Wednesday, April 26, 2006 the Chicago Lake Shore Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals(R) (IAAP) will host the 19th Annual Administrative Professionals Day(R) Luncheon. 150 Administrative Professionals and Executives from businesses throughout the city and surrounding suburbs traditionally attend the event.

Keynoting the event will be Felicia Middlebrooks, morning co-anchor for WBBM Newsradio 780 in Chicago. Ms. Middlebrooks was chosen to keynote this year’s luncheon because of her commitment to excellence and perseverance. In 2002, Middlebrooks faced tough salary negotiations with WBBM, despite more than 25 years of being a top-rated news anchor at the CBS owned company. Middlebrooks left the airwaves temporarily when her contract ended. Shortly thereafter, she reached a contract agreement, returned to the airwaves and reclaimed her position as co-anchor of the highest-rated morning radio show in Chicago. She is now known as the highest paid female radio news anchor in the country.

Administrative Professionals Week began in 1952 as a way to honor administrative staff for their efforts to attract more people to office and administrative careers. Now, the week-long workplace observance and celebration is one of the largest in the nation.

“We are thrilled that Felicia Middlebrooks will be joining us for our annual luncheon this year,” said Elizabeth Timmer, President of the Chicago Lake Shore Chapter of IAAP. “It is our mission to offer speakers with diverse backgrounds that through hard work, determination and great skills have attained a leadership role in our community,” she added.

  • The Chicago Lake Shore Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals was chartered in 1945. The group hosts regular meetings which provide the opportunity to obtain training in leadership development, presentation skills and problem solving techniques-keeping members abreast of the latest developments in the administrative profession. The meetings also provide networking opportunities.
