HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Sept. 20 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Artist Jeff Sheng will be signing copies of his ground-breaking book “DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL: Volume 1” (ISBN-13: 978-0-9844474-1-1) this month at two events sponsored by A&I Books.
Printed by A&I Books, “DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL: Volume 1,” is the first-ever photography book that features the portraits and stories of gay and lesbian service members currently serving under the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. The book contains an Afterword by W.M. Hunt, noted gallerist (HASTED HUNT KRAEUTLER) and Vietnam War veteran. The book and its author were recently profiled in a NY Times feature article, the Los Angeles Times (9/18/10) and on ABC World News.

About Jeff Sheng:
Jeff Sheng (www.jeffsheng.com) is an artist based in Los Angeles, California. His photographs have been published in the New York Times Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, the Boston Globe, Time Magazine, OUT Magazine and the Advocate. His photographic series “Fearless,” has been exhibited at over 40 different venues during the past three years including at the 2009 LGBT Human Rights Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, and ESPN Headquarters in the United States, and in 2008 was featured as a segment for the ABC World News with Charles Gibson. Jeff was recently awarded a grant by the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation in British Columbia to expand “Fearless” into Canada, and the series, now with over a hundred LGBT high school and college athletes from the United States, is on view at Pride House in Whistler, BC during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA: Studio Art) from the University of California, Irvine. He is now a Lecturer for the University of California, Santa Barbara, and teaches various courses in photography and also Asian American Studies. His work is represented by Kaycee Olsen Gallery in Los Angeles.
