Twenty years ago, our hero and founder of Moby Lube, was working 65 to 70 hours a week as a facilities and production manager, and had no extra time on his hands whatsoever. His schedule was work, try to make it to his daughters field hockey game, maybe spend an hour with the family, bed, and start all over again the next day.
Between those crazy hours and a brutal commute, our hero rarely had time to bring his car to a shop and wait an hour for an oil change. And there was no way he’d have the time to drop his wife’s car at a dealer for a full day of minor preventive maintenance service. That’s where the dream of Moby Lube began.
It was actually while waiting in line for an oil change when our hero realized that all the equipment in the service bay (minus the rude mechanic and bad day old coffee) could be housed neatly and professionally in a MOBILE unit.
“Why not save people time and hassle and take this whole process on the road,” our hero thought. “No longer would people have to go out of their way to get their car serviced. This service should come to them, our hero concluded.
Plus, since our hero was fully qualified as a mechanic who restores antique cars and likes to get his hands dirty – he decided to make it his mission to keep everyone’s vehicles in top shape!
What started with servicing a few cars here and there in PA and NJ neighborhoods – quickly became something that Human Resource professional wanted to offer their employees as a company benefit, which then quickly spread to fleet managers of large trucks asking for the service as well.
Growing rapidly and making customers happy since 2010, Moby Lube can proudly say that it has serviced thousands of car, trucks and even heavy equipment.
