PRESS RELEASE OF GREG CONLON FOR CONGRESS:
Conlon Believes U.S. Fiscal Policies Need to Change and Federal Government Expenses Need to be Cut 10% to Reduce the Prices of Gasoline and Oil in The U.S.

SAN CARLOS, Calif., June 19 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Greg Conlon, recently elected in the June Primary Election as the Republican Candidate for U.S. Congress in California's 12th District, believes Congress and the country's fiscal policies need to change to strengthen the value of the dollar and significantly decrease oil and gasoline prices in the U.S. The 12th District includes most of San Mateo County and the Southwestern portion of the City of San Francisco.

Conlon believes one important reason for the increase in gasoline prices can be attributed to the declining value of the dollar compared to foreign currencies. As an example the U.S. dollar compared to the Euro-dollar has gone down almost 25% in the last year, with the exchange rate going from $1.30 per Euro dollar at the beginning of last year to almost $1.60 today. Conlon is recommending changes he believes, as does his economic advisor, would strengthen the value of the dollar to its level at the beginning of 2007 and cause U.S. gasoline and oil prices to drop significantly.

According to Conlon, much of the responsibility for the declining dollar and the rise in

gasoline prices rests with Congress and its deficit spending. Conlon believes a 10% cut in government spending, across the board, coupled with an increase in interest rates by the Federal Reserve, as soon as the Fed believes appropriate, would send a message to the world that this country is serious about getting its financial house in order. His recommended cuts would specifically exclude certain national security expenses, as well as expenditures to remedy any natural catastrophes and expenses to protect the indigent and low income citizens. He believes that the adverse effect on the nation's economy from an increase in interest rates could be offset by an economic benefit from a significant decrease in oil and gasoline prices in the U.S.

Conlon bases his 10% cut in government spending recommendations on his professional background as a businessman and CPA and his experience as a Commissioner and President at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), which cut its budget by 10% in one year to help meet the financial crisis in California in the early 1990's. The CPUC experience indicates that such cuts can be made without seriously affecting the service levels of the agency. Conlon believes the federal budget cuts he recommends will not seriously affect the service levels of most federal government agencies either. He believes these two recommendations should strengthen the dollar and significantly reduce oil and gasoline prices in the U.S.

His recommendations are also consistent with one of the three planks in his platform: to balance the budget without increasing taxes.

See his website www.gregconlonforcongress.com for the other planks in his platform under the "issues" tab.
DENVER, Colo., June 11 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- If you want to give yourself the best odds for winning a desirable job, make sure you aggressively compete in all 8 segments of today's job market. "ITS is best known for providing openings, leads and contacts that will penetrate 85% of a job seeker's market," Robert Gerberg added, "but all market segments are avenues to opportunities. Exposure in each of them will give you many more options. With today's competition, you need to plan on generating a lot of interest in your talents."

"Employment experts all agree that it is more important than ever to really market yourself. Whether you're a CEO or a young salesperson, you need to identify your right market and clarify your goals in terms of job titles and industries. Then you need to be 'packaged' with superior resumes and letters. Once you have them, you need to be 'promoted' wisely and enough to put yourself in the driver's seat. This means you must be able to access the market... having information at your fingertips about the openings, leads and contacts relating to opportunities right for you. That of course is what ITS makes easy for job seekers, who have their entire job market at their fingertips."

"Can you get by doing a lot less? You might, and you'll eventually get a job. But what kind of job?... And for what income? Will it be the right career move?... And how long will it have taken you? These are things you need to seriously consider. The job market today consists of employers who make public their openings... and those who don't. There are five segments to the published job market and three in the unpublished. We believe in an aggressive philosophy that gets people a lot of interviews. This may sound like a lot, but you have to be realistic about rejections. By developing this level of activity, you increase your chances of having several offers mature at the same time."

ITS offers Personal Marketing Services that goes far beyond Outplacement Career counseling. ITS uses its own unique technology to give job seekers access to as much as 85% of the advertised openings, including those from newspapers, recruiter openings, job boards, employer sites, and trade magazines. It also provides access to the unadvertised job market among employers, recruiters and growth companies.

GAINESVILLE, Fla., May 5 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- A White Paper recently released by the Perth Leadership Institute (www.perthleadership.org) and written by leadership educator and author Dr. E. Ted Prince concludes that all three Presidential front runners focus on economic resource redistribution rather than economic value creation. The paper documents how the candidates "business acumen" will all create adverse long-term impacts on U.S.' global competitive position, but to varying degrees, with Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton likely having least adverse impact.

This economic white paper analyzes the three front runner U.S. presidential candidates from a novel and intriguing perspective; their impact on the economy and U.S. global leadership and competitiveness. This research answers questions as to whether the candidates will keep the U.S. in the forefront of the world's leading countries and societies based on their behavioral financial traits. It concludes that none of the three will have such an impact and the choice is between who will have the least adverse impact on the U.S.' world leadership and competitive position.

The paper examines in detail the business acumen characteristics (www.perthleadership.org/businessacumen.htm) of the three front-runners and shows who is likely to have the most and the least adverse impacts on the U.S. global position. The White Paper does not attempt to judge the front-runners on other aspects of their policies and impacts, focusing only on this particular issue.

See Perth Leadership's Presidential Candidate blog at http://perthwhitepaper.blogspot.com/ to comment on the White Paper.

This economic assessment is based on a new set of behavioral finance tools designed to measure business acumen developed by the Perth Leadership Institute whose approach is set out in the book, "The Three Financial Styles of Very Successful Leaders," published by McGraw-Hill in 2005, written by Dr. E. Ted Prince, Founder and CEO of the Institute.

These economic personality tools measure the propensity of a leader to create societal and business value. Where a leader creates more value than resources utilized, capital is created stimulating U.S. competitiveness and bolstering its global leadership position.

According to Dr. E. Ted Prince: "Value creation by leaders, whether they be political or business, is more than a matter of wise stewardship of resources. It is, or should be, also about value creation. Analysis of all these three leaders reveals that they are far more about resource redistribution than about value creation. This has huge, and adverse, ramifications for the U.S. global competitive and leadership position now and in the future. This aspect has been lost in the general political debate. It is for this reason that we have conducted this analysis."

The Perth Leadership Institute of Gainesville, Florida was founded by veteran CEO and leadership educator, Dr. E. Ted Prince. The Institute has developed proprietary leadership assessment tools and a unique leadership performance improvement approach, the Perth Leadership Outcome Model(TM) (PLOM). PLOM(TM) identifies the Financial Signature(R) and the financial mission of senior leaders to improve their valuation impact and the competitive outcome of the enterprises or the organizations they lead.

This approach goes beyond conventional competency-based and psychological approaches. Instead it introduces a new outcome-based approach that is based on extensive research carried out with CEOs and senior executives.

	* Expand the list by searching news articles, company websites and the internet for contacts within your field. The more work you spend researching, the more contacts you will have in the future.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. and LONDON, England, April 27 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Los Angeles Attorney, Frederick A. Romero, a decorated United States Marine Corp. veteran, who has been awarded the Purple Heart medal and was previously honorably discharged as a sergeant, has requested the United Nations, European Union and Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to impose trade sanctions against the United States and to freeze U.S. assets abroad.

Mr. Romero states that experts on international law have advised him that foreign assets of U.S. businesses and citizens may be frozen by orders of foreign courts for corruption of the truth-seeking process by the State of Arizona.

Although an unrelated case, it is interesting to note that on March 25, 2008, the U.S. Supreme Court has stated in Medellin v. Texas that the states do not have to follow international laws and treaties. Thus, trade sanctions are appropriate.

Since the courts in the United States have traditionally frozen assets of foreign nations for human rights violations, experts do not see why foreign courts cannot freeze U.S. assets for the same type of violations.

"We intend on initiating proceedings to freeze assets of U.S. citizens and businesses abroad for the human rights violations by the U.S. against Mr. Anant K. Tripati, a Fiji citizen," Romero says. A copy of the letter is available on request.

A legal defense fund to help Mr. Tripati has been established by his supporters and information can be obtained from tripati @sbcglobal.net. Additional information about this matter may be found on two separate websites: www.aztripati.com and www.catripati.com.
Research reports from the mainstream technical literature may change the tenor of the public conversation about biotechnology.

GHENT, N.Y., April 14 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The Nature Institute has unveiled a new website designed to set the public debate about genetic engineering upon a more accessible scientific foundation. Distilling a voluminous technical literature, the website gathers together -- often in the researchers' own words -- information about both the intended and unintended consequences of transgenic experiments. The emerging picture tells a dramatic story; one that has scarcely begun to inform the public conversation to date.

The website, nontarget.org, is part of The Nature Institute's ongoing project on "The Nontarget Effects of Genetic Manipulation."

Nontarget effects have proven both extensive and unpredictable. The evidence for their occurrence, while mostly buried in the technical literature, is not disputable or even particularly controversial. It's simply not widely known. Once it is known, the frequently heard claim that genetic manipulation of organisms is a "precise science" without dramatic risks will either be voiced no more or will be recognized as dishonest.

As project director, Craig Holdrege, describes, "If you manipulate one or more genes in an organism using the techniques of biotechnology, the so-called side-effects -- which are not side-effects at all, but include direct responses by the organism to the invasive actions of the engineer -- can occur anywhere and everywhere in the organism. They are not predictable, are little understood, and have mostly unknown consequences for health and the environment. The intended result may or may not be achieved in any given case, but the one almost sure thing is that unintended results -- nontarget effects -- will be achieved."

Holdrege, whose most recent book, "Beyond Biotechnology," deals with the practical and philosophical implications of genetic engineering, maintains that a great deal of the discussion of genetic engineering practices can become calmer and more focused once the basic facts revealed by the extensive research to date are more widely known.

Holdrege believes that "We can hardly fail to acknowledge a need for caution when we are dealing with a powerful technology that is changing organisms and environments around the globe -- organisms and environments that cannot simply be restored to their previous state when we discover the unpredicted results of transgenic experiments."

SEATTLE, Wash., March 20 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Most people are aware of the controversy created when professional golfer Tripp Isenhour killed a red-shouldered hawk by intentionally hitting golf balls at it. Isenhour's claim that he was merely trying to scare the bird away and that it was a million-to-one shot seem unlikely at best and a blatant lie at worst. Either way, the result is the same - a hurtful and immature act unbefitting the traditions of the game of golf and unbecoming to the spirit of the game.

Mr. Golf Etiquette (www.mrgolf.com) and Keepers of the Game (www.keepersofthegame.org), along with like-minded golfers around the world are outraged by this callous act, but, at the same time recognize that a solution exists that encourages responsibility on the part of Mr. Isenhour and that draws on the finest traditions of the game of golf.

Every golfer who appreciates the history of the game understands golf's unique place in sports. When a player violates a rule of golf, the player calls the penalty on himself. In no other game is that element even considered, but in golf this implicit trust is supported by the entire community of players, respected among all enthusiasts and it is expected from every player.

Therefore it is the considered recommendation of Mr. Golf Etiquette and Keepers of the Game that Mr. Isenhour, be required to impose the sanction upon himself for this cruel act, to be carried out according to his own conscience. He alone knows what his true intentions were.

For those who think that is letting him off easy, we know the opposite will occur. When he realizes that his name in the annals of the game will be tied to how clearly he understands the infraction, how maturely he stands up and takes his penalty and how sincerely he exhibits his remorse for this impulsive act which tarnishes the name of the game, it is likely he will follow the honorable examples of the five centuries of golfers that came before him.

One might expect that he would donate all proceeds from the video to the Audubon Society, that he would do many hours of community service teaching about respect for wildlife or that he would provide golf lessons for juniors with the proceeds going to The First Tee where kids are taught the values that Mr. Isenhour seems to have missed.

Please join Mr. Golf Etiquette and Keepers of the Game in supporting the values that golf has taught for hundreds of years: honor, integrity, sportsmanship and calling penalties on oneself when an infraction has occurred.

Mr. Golf Etiquette (www.mrgolf.com) is the only web site exclusively devoted to promoting good golf etiquette on the course and the principles of good golf etiquette off the course. Started in April 1996, the web site is run by Jim Corbett (mrgolf@mrgolf.com); Mr. Corbett is the author of "The Pocket Idiot's Guide to Golf Rules & Etiquette" (ISBN: 978-1-59257-642-5) and "The GolfBook for Kids."

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 29 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- "Every February for the last 50 years, stock car enthusiasts across the country have packed their sunscreen and descended on Daytona," said Ethan Whitehill, CEO of Two West, Inc. "This year, unfortunately, the economy also decided to head south for vacation."

But fear not, race fans. There is hope for the brand that doesn't want to lose ground in a slow down. In fact, Two West has identified a lot of the same strategies that help NASCAR drivers win on the track can help your company survive the rough recessionary road ahead.

Any driver worth his roll cage will tell you that to maintain stability in a turn, you've got to accelerate through it. Brake before a turn, but never in one.

For companies, this means it's okay to tap the brakes and make some adjustments when leading indicators signal potential trouble. Try this when you're in a downturn, however, and you're likely to lose control.

Give it some gas. Increasing your investment even a little in R&D, innovation, branding or advertising will pay back big time when you turn the corner. This maneuver has been proven time and time again by successful businesses. Multiple studies have shown companies that don't cut marketing spending in a recession nearly double the growth of competitors that do.

When the race is close, every second counts and the crew chief must make a choice: pit or pray. If he's confident his crew can change four tires and fill the tank in less than 12.5 seconds, he'll use the pit for competitive advantage. But if he doubts his crew, he'll skip the pit and hope his driver's fuel and luck don't run out.

In business terms, an efficient operation gives companies the flexibility to make good decisions and the speed to seize fleeting opportunities. This is especially important when the economy dips and the race for market share heats up.

If you're running heavy now, do your brand a favor and get your organization in shape by optimizing systems and eliminating under performing programs. You'll gain valuable time for innovation and grow customer loyalty through continuous improvement.

Because NASCAR sets strict limits on technology, no car can pass another based on horsepower or body design alone. That's why drivers constantly tailgate teammates to reduce wind resistance. A drafting car can gain another three to five miles per hour, enough speed to slingshot past competitors.

Recessions, like NASCAR, level the playing field. A company's position after a downturn has less to do with its momentum before it and more to do with its actions during it. Smart brands look for drafting partners to help them minimize economic drag. Often, such partners come from adjacent industries or different markets and offer access to new ideas, customers or geographies.

Consider the potential partners you could draft in this recession. Chances are you'll find someone who shares your desire to grow-and blow the doors off the competition.

Of course, other companies will see opportunity in recession as well. So remember to defend your territory - competitors in your mirror may be closer than they appear. The last thing you want is to have a rival run your brand into the wall for the lead.

"When it comes to driving growth in a down economy, don't be afraid to invest in your business and rev up your brand," explains Whitehill. "By pushing the turns, mastering the pit, drafting the leader and driving defensively, you just may capture the pole position right in time for the recovery."
Radio Host's Disparaging Posthumous Remarks Overshadow Last Words Ford Left the World

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Jan. 28 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Don Imus' disrespectful and disparaging remarks about President Gerald R. Ford a month after his death carried a weight of historic proportions, according to FlatSigned Press, Inc.'s Chairman of the Board Tim Miller. "Because of Don Imus' actions, much of the public never heard about the new information President Ford left the world regarding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy," says Miller.

Miller's company published President Ford's last written words on the subject in a book titled "President John F. Kennedy: The Assassination Report of the Warren Commission." Published in 2005, the collectible hand-signed, leather-bound, limited edition book featured a forward by President Ford, who was the last surviving member of the Warren Commission.

"This book was chosen by the president to be part of his legacy, a part of his life surviving beyond his death," notes Miller. "Don Imus damaged that legacy by using his considerable influence over the book-buying public to cast a very negative and inaccurate light on the book."

FlatSigned Press, Inc. has sued Don Imus, Infinity Broadcasting, and CBS as a result of off-script and off-color remarks Imus made while reading ad copy to promote the book on his show. The "Imus in the Morning" show was selected to be the highlight in FlatSigned Press, Inc.'s marketing of the book, due to Imus's noted ability to publicize books. Imus' remarks left an indelible negative mark on the publishing company's name.

"The issue of highest concern to me is the fact that Imus' remarks cheapened perceptions of Ford's last work and insulted a much beloved American president in the process," says Miller. "Until I worked with Ford and published this book, I'd never believed in a conspiracy, and to Ford's dying day he would never admit to or claim that there was a conspiracy, yet his comments in the forward are laced with hints that warrant thoughtful consideration that there may be more information that the Warren Commission couldn't discuss in 1963."

What Imus did not tell his listeners that is included within Ford's final book is a discussion of the lingering questions and conspiracy theories surrounding the Kennedy assassination and a wide range of topics about Ford's own life, the issues he inherited as president, the two assassination attempts on him during his presidency, his internal struggles over his Presidential pardon of President Richard M. Nixon, his analysis of the current economic climate, and his views on modern politics, including the breakdown of communications within the Central Intelligence Agency leading up to and during the September 11th attacks.

About FlatSigned Press, Inc.
FlatSigned Press, Inc. is an internet, retail rare book and publishing company specializing in the procurement, sale and publishing of rare and collectible books, first-edition signed books, manuscripts, historical documents, art, and autographs. FlatSigned Press, Inc. was founded in 1998. FlatSigned.com, went online in April 2000. The term FlatSigned was coined by author Stephen King to describe the most desirable type of collectible book: signed by the author directly on the title page without an inscription. www.flatsigned.com.

Excerpts from Gerald R. Ford's forward to President John F. Kennedy: The Assassination Report of the Warren Commission:
1 "...the biggest concern I have is our loss of U.S. factories and jobs...There has to be a balance, and we need to step back and look at our position in the world. The strength of nations isn't always from guns. There is no question that we need a strong, well-trained military, but it wasn't bombs that brought down the Iron Curtain and Berlin Wall - it was economics."

2 "Of all the difficult tasks I confronted during my Presidency, I am most proud of my accomplishment in healing a nation that was ravaged by political scandals, economic instability and a violently protested war."

3 "The Warren Commission didn't consider itself to be infallible, but knowing what was at stake, we took inordinate measures to compensate via thoroughness and acute fastidiousness. We double-checked all information and we cross-examined everyone."

4 "Unlike the 'theorists' of today who espouse one answer and look for some shred of reality to support it, we didn't assume any answer, but investigated all possibilities and let the facts reveal the truth."

5 "Searching for the truth is honorable; obsessing over it for forty years is freedom of the press."

Facts and notable quotes:
6 President Gerald R. Ford wrote the forward to the book "President John F. Kennedy: The Assassination Report of the Warren Commission."

7 Ford worked directly with publisher FlatSigned Press, Inc. and Tim Miller on all aspects of the book, engaging in spirited debate with Miller over the extent of information to be included in the book.

8 The book was published by FlatSigned Press, Inc. in 2005, approximately two-and-a-half years prior to Ford's death.

9 On January 29, 2007, Don Imus referred on air to the ad copy for the book as "cheesy" and went on to state that "these bastards have been waiting for him (President Ford) to croak so they can unload these (books)...now that he's flatlined, you go to Flatsigned.com..."

10 After a warning from CBS producers on January 29, 2007, Imus continued his off-script commentary during purchased ad spots with comments such as, "now that ol' President Ford has flatlined...buy your piece of American history at Flatsigned.com. They gotta be...this has gotta be a joke..."

11 Imus' disparaging remarks continued on January 30, 2007, when he said during ad spots "Poor ol' Gerald Ford went flatlined, now you can go to Flatsigned.com and get his book...they asked me not to say that, but..."

12 FlatSigned Press, Inc. and Tim Miller filed suit against Don Imus, Infinity Broadcasting, and CBS on January 23, 2008.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Jan. 3 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Dee Rule, "Baby Nurse and Nanny to the Stars," has been helping families for over 18 years. She is now making the media circuit and offering free advice to parents who need answers on sleep routines.

"My clients include Adam Sandler, Holly Hunter, Julia Roberts, and Oliver Hudson," says Dee, "and I'm often asked why the majority of families I work for have babies who sleep through the night."

"My tips cover how other families can get their little ones on a sleep routine, and how this can be accomplished on a consistent basis."

Here are a few:

There's a solid solution for getting a little one to sleep through the night: Patience, persistence, love, and imagination. Also back it up with daily timing of activities: baths and get-togethers.

Getting your new born on a routine early is a huge key to success. Parents can feel less stress by doing what they love. The infant or child will pick-up or feel if you're depressed or down; and will communicate frustration with excessive cries.

Swaddling is a great feat for many parents but it's one key to many doors of restful sleep. A routine schedule and persistence will send a clear message to the toddler or child: it's sleep time!

"I have currently finished writing a book entitled 'The Baby Schedule Ruler,' and will keep all informed of its release date," added Dee. "I'm a RN Nurse with lots of love and care for my families."

No celebrity endorsement claimed or implied.
ELM SPRINGS, Tenn. - Dec. 3 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Sons of Confederate Veterans leader Christopher M. Sullivan issued the following statement in response to the CNN Republican debate Wednesday 28 November. "Mitt Romney proposes himself to be president of the United States but last night he clearly demonstrated not only his ignorance of American history but also his contempt for Southerners who love and respect their Confederate ancestors.

"Gov. Romney went way over the line when he attacked Southerners for respecting the historical significance of the Confederate flag. Perhaps the citizens of his state of Massachusetts still hate Southerners, but Gov. Romney should not expect us to accept his outrageous attack on Southern heritage."

Responding to a question about the Confederate flag, Romney said,

"That flag frankly, is divisive and shouldn't be shown. Right now with the kinds of issues we've got in this country, I'm not going to get involved with a flag like that."

"That's not a flag that I would recognize so that I would hold it up in my room."

"The people of our country have decided not to fly that flag. I think that's the right thing."

Sullivan went on to say, "We were not aware that the people of the country have had their First Amendment rights abridged as Mr. Romney seems to desire. Whether Gov. Romney likes it or not, Confederate flags are freely flown throughout the U.S. and in other countries as well."

"The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Inc. does not participate in partisan politics. We do speak out when anyone disparages the honorable service of Confederate soldiers and the symbols which identified them," Sullivan concluded.
$22,500 of Taxpayer Money Allegedly Spent on 'Vanity' Plates

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Nov. 5 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- "It's not legal, not appropriate use of public funds, and a deep insult to non-profit organizations across the Commonwealth who have worked to legally get, or even have just thought about getting, specialty plates," said Don Shelton, spokesman for the Kentucky Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans. "In the process of studying the procedures necessary to get a specialty plate for our non-profit, we stumbled across a plate sponsored by the Kentucky Historical Society that didn't go through the proper processes," Shelton continued.

Records show that the Kentucky Lincoln Bicentennial Commission voted $22,500 of money the legislature budgeted to it, for use by the Kentucky Historical Society to apply for a Lincoln Bicentennial specialty license plate. The law, however, requires a minimum of 900 individual applications to accompany the overall plate application, from citizens actually planning to purchase the plates for their vehicles, along with a $25 fee from each applicant. The Transportation Cabinet confirmed in the SCV's investigation that instead of 900 or more individual applications, there were none, and that taxpayer money was being used to cover the $22,500 that should come from individual plate applicants. The plate is scheduled to be available in December.

"Basically, it appears that the taxpayers have shelled out $22,500 so a few people could have, in essence, 'vanity' plates," said Shelton. "The subject of the plate isn't important," he continued, "It might even be a nice plate. What is important is that the law was circumvented, and taxpayer money was wasted to do it."

In the wake of this alleged "scandal," the Kentucky Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans calls for the co-chairs of the Kentucky Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, Tommy Turner and State Senator Dan Kelly, and Executive Director of the Kentucky Historical Society, Kent Whitworth, to resign or be replaced. "We believe these men knew the law, yet circumvented it," said Shelton. The Kentucky SCV also calls for the funding and expenditures of the Lincoln Bicentennial Commission to be reviewed, in light of this irregularity, and for an investigation to see how this slipped through the Transportation Cabinet. "We expect other non-profits to make the same demands as they learn about this; it affects us all," Shelton concluded.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans was founded in 1896 to honor the memory and heritage of Confederate soldiers, sailors and marines.

KRS 186.164 (11) - If the cabinet approves a request for a special license plate, the cabinet shall begin designing and printing the plate after the group collects a minimum of nine hundred (900) applications with each application being accompanied by a twenty-five dollar ($25) state fee. The applications and accompanying fee shall be submitted to the cabinet at one (1) time as a whole and shall not be submitted individually or intermittently.
ELM SPRINGS, Tenn. - Nov. 1 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The following statement was issued today by Christopher M. Sullivan, Commander-In-Chief, Sons of Confederate Veterans: It has come to our attention that Al Sharpton has used highly volatile and untrue words to inject his prejudice into a non-story with Vice President Cheney. It appears to be another attempt by Sharpton to grab headlines and falsely cry "racism" for profit.

According to wire reports, a photographer for the New York Daily News took a picture of a Confederate flag hanging in the garage of a private hunting lodge where Vice President Cheney was hunting. Since this Cheney hunting trip apparently garnered no real news, the media ran the picture to Sharpton for comment. Sharpton did not disappoint, pronouncing the New York club as "representing lynching, hate and murder of black people."

Once again Mr. Sharpton demonstrates his bigotry by trying to unjustly disparage the Confederate soldier's flag.

In the hearts of millions of diverse Americans, as well as by federal law, Confederate soldiers are U.S. veterans, and Sharpton's divisive antics are dismaying to most fair-minded Americans.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans demands Sharpton apologize for his remarks.

In the future, if Mr. Sharpton again chooses to play politics, he should leave out his messages of hate and anger toward Confederate veterans and their symbols.
ELM SPRINGS, Tenn. - Apr. 17 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The Sons of Confederate Veterans, one of the oldest veterans organizations in the United States, have publicly challenged NBC's "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno over comments he recently made on the program.

In his monologue to open the April 10, 2007 'Tonight Show," Leno stated in reference to Don Imus, the talk radio host recently fired because of racist comments made on his program: "They say [Imus] is still working on raising funds for his favorite charity, the sons of the Confederacy (sic)."

"Sadly, this is a predictable statement made by someone who obviously doesn't know better," Sons of Confederate Veteran's Commander in Chief Christopher Sullivan said in reaction to Leno's comment. "Even though he is in front of millions of Americans every night, Jay Leno is a product of the same media system that has systematically attempted to equate the Confederate soldier with racism."

"I challenge Mr. Leno to provide any kind of substantive evidence to support his assertion that the Sons of Confederate Veterans supports racist causes or motivations, as he has inferred with the joke made on his program," Sullivan added.

"Unfortunately, racism is a part of any culture, and America is not immune to it in any region, be it north, south, east, or west," Sullivan said. "While it is regrettable that Mr. Imus made his racially charged and derogatory comments about the Rutgers ladies basketball team, it is equally offensive that Mr. Leno would attack Southerners the way he did. Mr. Leno ought to apologize for his offensive remarks."

"The SCV is all about protecting the honor of the Confederate soldier: no more, no less," Sullivan concluded. "Skin color has nothing to do with the task of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, as those soldiers were of many different races, ethnicities, and national origins. Obviously, Jay Leno doesn't know his American history very well, or he would have known that before he made such an ignorant and uninformed statement."

The Sons of Confederate Veterans is a fraternal, non-political, and non-partisan military and heritage organization founded in 1896 to perpetuate the honor of the fighting soldier of the Confederacy. It has over 30,000 members spread through the 50 states.
