ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y., Feb. 8 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Has today's economy made you put off your dreams of a new home? The new book, "Prosperity Plans" (ISBN: 978-1450559645), just published by architect Donald J. Berg, might get you dreaming again.

Berg's new book proposes that today's architects, builders and prospective homeowners can all learn from a series of fascinating "Growing House" designs created in 1934. That was the time of the Great Depression and Dust Bowl droughts, when Americans faced economic horrors that make today's problems seem mild. It was a time when very few people thought that they'd ever be able to afford a new home.

The designs, first published in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's booklet, "Farmhouse Plans," show how tiny, low-cost houses can be planned to grow into larger, more comfortable homes over time. The idea helped homeowners spread the cost of construction over many years as houses were expanded in two, three or more stages.

The Growing Houses all started as attractive cottages, each with a kitchen and one or two multi-purpose rooms. Carefully planned additional stages of construction added bedrooms and more formal living spaces with very little demolition and little or no disruption of family life. Each stage created a new home that looked as good or better than the one before it.

"Prosperity Plans" includes a complete reprint of the original 1935 booklet with forty home designs, floor plans, a new forward by Berg, photos of the homes and the times, and links to Internet sources of free downloadable copies of the houses' original construction drawings. Although the plans are not suitable for today's building codes, they are a great source for design ideas and attractive construction details.

Softcover copies are available at Amazon.com and other booksellers. An inexpensive, downloadable e-book edition, as well as links to the free construction drawings, are available at www.ProsperityPlans.net.

About the Author:
Donald Berg is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Society of Architectural Historians. He has published fifteen books on American building and landscape design. His designs, articles and interviews have appeared in Home Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, Country Life, Traditional Building, The Old-House Journal and many other publications. BOSTON, Mass., Jan. 27 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Smoked Goldeye Press today announced the release of a children's picture book that aims to explain how new money from the Federal Reserve inadvertently causes cycles of economic downturns in the United States economy -- something embattled Fed chairman Ben Bernanke would rather people not know about, says the author. In 32 color illustrated pages "The Scary Story of the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Box of Free Money" (ISBN: 9780615337432) attempts to simplify the complexity of central bank monetary policy in an amusing way and is targeted at readers aged 10 to 100.

"The 'Scary Story' makes for a fun, understandable way of telling an important story about the harm that can be done by central banks," said Walter E. Williams, Professor of Economics at George Mason University.

The book has also received approval from other prominent economists from Massachusetts to Louisiana and Alabama's Ludwig von Mises Institute. "I was inspired to write this book for my 11 and 13-year-old kids to help them understand why so many people have lost their jobs," says author Martin McCannell who is the founder and president of a three-employee medical device company in Boston.

"The approval I received after showing my story to a few economists, to make sure I got it right, made me decide to go ahead with this book project. It's a simple concept that everyone can understand once they read a little story like this," McCannell predicts.

South Dakota artist Sharon Grey won a worldwide competition to illustrate the book with her watercolor paintings. This is her fourth children's book.

"The Scary Story of the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Box of Free Money" (ISBN - 10: 0-615-33743-0; ISBN - 13: 9780615337432) 32-page paperback will be released on February 14 on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com at $4.99 each and can be pre-ordered now. POMONA, N.Y., Jan. 12 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Brain Drain (ISBN: 0984196307; 978-0984196302) authored by Charles F. Glassman, M.D., FACP, is a powerful new book that teaches people how to break free of their brains' automatic responses through understanding and controlling their mind/body connections.

Brain Drain was patient driven. Five years ago, Dr. Glassman founded the New York Center for Longevity and Wellness - its goal to take a comprehensive approach to medicine and to balance mind/body concepts with conventional medicine. Two years later, he began distributing a weekly, motivational e-mail message to patients and friends; its popularity quickly grew. As a result, he was prompted to turn his practical advice into a book.

The book offers a groundbreaking revelation that provides readers with the necessary tools to stop personal brain drain while helping them to find the things in life that are right for them. It explores many areas that include: how to get out of an unhappy relationship; how to improve overall physical health; how to increase energy; how to break free of bad habits; and much more.

Broken down into 19 chapters and three parts: The Automatic Brain; The Power of Our Mind; and Seven Days to Belief, Brain Drain connects the dots between mind, body, spirit and wellness.

Brain Drain recently won honorable mention at the prestigious New England Book Festival in the non-fiction category. It's 240 pages and available in hard cover for $29.95 on Amazon.com and at: www.CharlesGlassmanMD.com.

About the Author:
Dr. Charles Glassman's internal medicine practice in Pomona, NY emphasizes wellness and prevention. He is patient focused rather than problem focused; and driven to provide health care rather than sick care.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, and the Life Extension Foundation, his approach to medicine is integrative - using traditionally-approved methods while recognizing the power of unconventional therapies. He is consistently voted a "Top Doctor" in Hudson Valley Magazine and New York Metro.

Dr. Glassman has appeared on ABC News, Bloomberg Radio, National Public Radio and The Wall Street Journal Radio. He has had numerous health care articles appear in The New York Times and other publications, and is quickly becoming a leading medical community expert on mind/body/spirit concerning the physician-patient relationship.
Galleon Founder Raj Rajaratnam Trapped!

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif., Jan. 4 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Hardly a week goes by without some sort of unethical behavior making national headlines. Whether it is a media hoax about a boy in a balloon or a Ponzi scheme of the highest caliber, unethical behavior has - sadly - become expected?? Dr. Robert Hoyk, is a Clinical Psychologist and primary author of "THE ETHICAL EXECUTIVE: Becoming Aware of the Root Causes of Unethical Behavior: 45 Psychological Traps that Every One of Us Falls Prey To" (Stanford University Press; ISBN: 978-0804759656, hardcover). Hoyk analyzes treacherous situations from Enron to Jonestown and personal scenarios throughout "The Ethical Executive."

He is a remarkable source to help others understand the "Why" of these dilemmas and any new ones that are likely to present themselves. Hoyk's analysis of the recent indictment of Raj Rajaratnam for insider trading explains this further:

Rajaratnam founded the Galleon Group in 1997. Galleon became a success when its analysts were privy to early, selective market information such as corporate earnings. With the new Regulation Fair Disclosure rules of 2000, Galleon could no longer obtain selective market information legally. But getting the banned information remained a prime tactic of Galleon. And pressure was severe on traders to get it. Traders who didn't make the grade were rebuked or fired.

It's likely that Galleon was caught in five psychological traps:

Trap 13: "Don't Make Waves": Galleon became a success by obtaining early, selective market information. This strategy became a norm of the company and like an automatic pilot led Galleon down the path of corruption.

Trap 11: Conformity: Traders who were against the insider trading or newly hired traders were likely to follow what the group was doing.

Trap 12: Conformity Pressure: Traders who didn't follow the norm or what the group was doing were rebuked or fired.

Trap 24: Desensitization: The more Rajaratnam and his traders committed insider trading the more their guilt decreased. Over time, with repeated exposure, people emotionally habituate to any type of distress-including guilt. You commit a transgression once, it engenders guilt; you commit the transgression again and again, your guilt is deadened.

Trap 37: Doing Is Believing: Frequently, we observe our own behavior. In so doing, we influence our attitudes about our actions. If we choose to act unethically, the act itself will shape our beliefs and attitudes about our transgression. To some degree we will begin to see the transgression as more acceptable. As Rajaratnam and his traders committed insider trading they automatically began to view their transgressions in a less negative way.
REDONDO BEACH, Calif., Dec. 30 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Publishers Newswire (PNW), an online resource established in 2004 for small publishers, as well as lesser known and first-time book authors, has announced its latest semi-annual "Books to Bookmark" list, for the fourth quarter of 2009. This list is a round-up of new and interesting books (and e-books) which are often missed due to not originating from major New York book publishing houses, or "big name" authors.

"Even with the slower economy, ardent authors and small publishers continue to give voice to their muse in print," said PNW editor Christopher Laird Simmons. "And, thanks to breakout products like Amazon's Kindle, e-book versions - which were a gimmick a few years ago - are swiftly becoming ubiquitous." Simmons has been a working journalist for 25 years, and has written widely on the topic of publishing, marketing, and e-books.

The following list of books are provided as "worth a look" for media and booksellers, as well as avid readers of new and unique literary content. To learn more about these and other books, in detail, visit: www.publishersnewswire.com.
LOS ANGELES, Calif., Dec. 29 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Kevin Glavin Publishing announced today the release of "Rock Star's Rainbow" (ISBN: 978-0-9825466-0-4), a new novel chronicling a recent and mysterious scandal involving one of the nation's most cherished "icons." The far-fetched story begins in August 2009, when a renowned entertainment reporter is thrown out of a plane over Los Angeles.

At the time of his unfortunate death, he was completing a manuscript detailing the strange personal life of the most secretive megastar of our time -- Rook. Luckily, this work in progress was rescued, although the details remain obscure. Now, assembled here is the sought after expose of the infamous rock star, searching for his lost innocence.

The quixotic adventure journeys from L.A., to Amsterdam, to India, and back. Along the way, Rook struggles with celebrity excess, re-ignites with his old flame, gets mixed up with the mafia, and must rescue the daughter he never knew he had. From the heights of hedonism to the depths of despair, this topical parody explores the beast of fame.

Author Kevin Glavin assumes the archaic guise of "editor," connecting the dots of this rather bizarre, reverse coming-of-age novel, "Rock Star's Rainbow."

Glavin, who supposedly found the surviving draft of the book on a plane, was struck by the enigmatic nature of the work while reading it at the roulette table. He decided then and there, after losing on 00, that it was notable and should be made public, and not remain in Vegas. Says the editor: "After consulting with counsel, I have determined that it is worth the gamble to publish this manuscript for the public's enjoyment, edification, and potential horrification."

Review copies and interviews with the author may be arranged upon request.

Available for $14.95 through Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.

Kevin Glavin's ancestors hail from the Emerald Isle; he hails from the Windy City. After receiving his BA in English and MAT in English Education from the University of Iowa, he traveled like his forefathers--westward. Mr. Glavin has taught for some thirteen years, mostly at Claremont High School, in Claremont, California.

In December 2009, Mr. Glavin formed his own publishing company to learn the entire art of bringing a work to market, in print and digitally, and to maintain creative freedom. He lives with his wife Brenda in Orange County.

Narconon is considered by many to be the most comprehensive drug rehabilitation and education program in the world. In addition to prevention efforts to keep youth away from drug abuse and their successful drug rehab programs, Narconon's holistic approach deals with all areas of life to help keep former addicts from returning to old patterns or routines that led them to substance abuse in the first place.

As part of its overall curriculum, Narconon uses a book called "The Way To Happiness," which is a non-religious, common sense guide to better living that was written by American author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard. The booklet has been translated into 90 languages and distributed to tens of millions of people worldwide. A new video covering the 21 precepts has just been released and is also being used to accompany the book in Narconon rehabilitation centers.

"The application of these principles is vital to restoring addicts' self-respect and responsibility," comments Clark Carr, President of Narconon International. "These unbiased values, when applied, can not only keep people away from relapsing to drugs, but also help make life at home and in their communities better for themselves and others around them. This is especially important for reuniting families this holiday season."

Narconon reminds people that all drugs are basically poisons for a person's body and that the amount taken determines the effect. This is true for over-the-counter medications, alcohol, prescription drugs and of course illicit street drugs. Having a broader understanding about what drug and alcohol abuse do to an individual and how it impacts his or her life is a key element to creating better communities. Narconon's educational approach helps not only restore honesty and trust, but also increases competence and ability.
EUREKA, Mont., Dec. 17 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- In his latest book titled, "Saving Eden" (ISBN 13: 978-0-9791293-9-1, EnDeavours Publishing), set in the Tobacco Valley, Montana author David C. Deavours shares a message of environmental awareness through a fictional story full of mystery, adventure, romance and tragedy.

Deavours relocates his main character, Nate Stone, from his Southern Appalachian home and plunges him into the wilds of Montana's Kootenai National Forest, where Nate suddenly finds himself enveloped in an unsolved murder mystery dating in the early 1800's.

Through a collection of enjoyable characters and sequenced flashbacks in time, "Saving Eden" delivers "A story for mystery lovers and a message for everyone," claims Deavours. "I wanted to get people to stop and think about their personal impact on our resources in an entertaining fashion. So I tried to create an interesting scenario and colorful characters to convey my message," says Deavours.

"Folks don't like to be told that they are negatively impacting the planet, which made me believe that sharing these thoughts through an entertaining story makes the information more palatable," Deavours added.

"Saving Eden" (ISBN: 978-0-9791293-9-1) sells for $14.95 and is available on-line at endeavourspublishing.com and several other Web based bookstores including Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Books-A-Million.

Deavours says his next publishing project, coincidentally titled, "My Walk with Eden," is a compilation of short stories about the triumphs and trials of the early years of motherhood from author Christie Elkins. Told from a new mother's perspective, "My Walk with Eden" is an honest look into the heart and mind of a mother on a journey to raise her first child while following a path of righteousness in a secular world, "And the lessons that God is teaching them both along the way," says Elkins.
Practical, cost-saving know-how delivered through peer interviews and articles.

WASHINGTON, D.C., Dec. 15 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The Lessee Advocate, LLC, announced today that it has launched the first publication dedicated to helping corporate equipment lessees improve their financial performance and leasing operations. The first issue of The Lessee Advocate includes an in-depth video interview with Ingemar Lanevi, Treasurer of NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP), and a detailed article about "How To Fix Poor End-of-term Performance." There is no fee for subscribing to the monthly newsletter at lesseeadvocate.com.

"Our research is intended to serve finance, procurement, operations, and IT executives and the leasing professionals that serve them inside corporate lessees. Because they have many other responsibilities besides leasing, these busy executives do not have the time to develop and maintain expertise in the many dimensions of leasing, including lessor competition, structuring, operations, accounting, and portfolio management. We can help them succeed by putting practical know-how and best practices at their fingertips," said Michael Keeler, Publisher.

"By comparison, a lessee's counter-party - the lessor - is doing lease transactions every day. This results in an asymmetrical relationship. Part of our role is to help lessees self-educate to establish parity in leasing transactions. We want to enable all corporate lessees to engage lessors with a commensurate level of expertise and confidence."

The video interview in the inaugural issue is presented as 10 video segments. In them, Mr. Lanevi, NetApp's Treasurer, answers a wide range of questions that reveal the financial rationale and operational challenges behind the scenes in NetApp's leasing program.

Keeler adds, "Lessees often face even greater challenges internally. Leasing is a complex, cross-functional, interdepartmental process. It is difficult to establish a leasing process for the first time, especially in decentralized corporate cultures. Scaling a leasing program and managing the leases, assets, internal stakeholders, and lessors throughout the lifecycle - especially at the end-of-term - is daunting for every company. It is our job to identify each incremental problem facing corporate lessees and discover practical solutions that have been deployed and tested by their peers."

"There are many associations in the US and around the world that focus on helping lessors. Now, for the first time, there is an advocate for lessees."

About The Lessee Advocate:
The Lessee Advocate, LLC, is a research firm publishing practical information for corporate executives who want to improve their financial performance by improving their leasing operations. FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Dec. 1 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The media is saturated with real-life accounts of financial scoundrels such as Madoff, Sanford, and Rothstein making people sadly aware of men who strive to cheat their clients through criminal schemes and outright theft. Such is the story line of husband and wife co-authors Ken and Tammy Brown's "Falling Apart" (ISBN: 9781605943954, Llumina Press). However, the man in this book is innocent.

Set in today's world of financial disintegration, "Falling Apart" is a timely book that depicts the horrors one man faces as his life crumbles to dust and ashes.

The main character, Tyler Holte, is a successful sales executive at the top of his game. But suddenly, his world falls apart and he finds himself at the center of a financial collapse not realized since the Great Depression.

After being framed for depleting personal and business bank accounts all over the U.S., Holte is pursued by the police, FBI, government, and mobs of people. His family turns against him and his teenage daughter defies him and his value system.

In a frantic 48-hour ride for his life, Holte flees from his past, present, and possible death while everyone turns their backs on him - except for one man. Holte quickly learns what he values most in life in this surprising, fast-paced book.

About the Authors:
Ken and Tammy Brown were both born in Oklahoma City, Okla. Ken has an entrepreneurial spirit that sits at the core of his being and has tried numerous activities from writing songs to selling crafts. He is the creator of the Original Cheesecake Sundae and co-invented a vent cap for PVC pipes. However, writing remained a top passion and a song he was working on evolved into a book.

Tammy has always enjoyed working with children. She worked at Children's Medical Center of Dallas and has worked as a substitute teacher for several years. While pursuing a degree in history and education, she interviewed people who lived during the Great Depression. She used that information, along with other research, which aided in the co-authoring of "Falling Apart."

CANTON, Ohio, Nov. 30 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- A Step Beyond Publishing announces its first non-fiction, controversial book: "I Apologize to All Women in the World - From Man" (ISBN: 978-0-9799724-0-9). The author, Billy Prowell, inspires women to accept their roles as dignified creations of God and to reject the assumed role, imposed by men, of indentured servant.

This new book provides readers with a process to heal and inspires the wounded to rebuild their lives without harboring hatred in their hearts.

Through a series of steps women will learn how to confront, forgive and define their sense of self. These steps will provide them with the strength to move on with their lives and to improve their moral and spiritual well-being.

"I Apologize to All Women in the World - From Man" redefines the roles of women and men in society.

Through thought-provoking letters and 11 different relationship examples, readers will gain insight into the egotistic behaviors of men and the gullibility of women.

The author contends that these qualities foster destructive behaviors which deter men and women from bonding emotionally. After reading this controversial book, male readers will question their manhood, and women readers will be inspired to admire their emotional strength while simultaneously questioning their sanity and naivete.

The author maintains that man has, consciously and semi-consciously, abused woman verbally, emotionally, physically and even sexually with little or no remorse since the beginning of time.

Man's egotism stems from a lack of knowledge of God, woman and himself. It is improbable that man will understand woman without first understanding God and then himself.

There is, however, an ethnically-diverse group of men who understand God, themselves and woman. These men have psychologically elevated above the barbaric, egotistic, ignorant and prideful man. These men have come to terms with the fact that their old actions were abnormal, disrespectful and demoralizing to women. These men have rehabilitated themselves and offer a heartfelt apology to all women in the world who have been abused in any manner by a man.
TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 19 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- "In Defense Of Thomas Jefferson" (ISBN: 978-0-312-56100-0), has just been published by St. Martins Press and concerns the major historical controversy surrounding Mr. Jefferson and his slave, Sally Hemings. "In Defense" definitively destroys the cultural myth that Jefferson had any relationship with Ms. Hemings.

The belief that Thomas Jefferson had an affair and fathered a child (or children) with slave Sally Hemings -- and that such an allegation was proven by DNA testing -- has become so pervasive in American popular culture that it is not only widely accepted but taught to students as historical fact. In this startling and revelatory argument, William G. Hyland Jr. shows not only that the evidence against Jefferson is lacking, but that in fact he is entirely innocent of the charge of having sexual relations with Hemings.

A "thorough survey of the scholarly and scientific literature ... Mr. Hyland, a lawyer, presents the historical record carefully and, closer to our day, provides marvelous details of the scholarly empire-building and grantsmanship that go into making 'fact' out of limited evidence -- in this case and others. By the end of 'In Defense of Thomas Jefferson,' it is hard not to conclude that, given the revisionist impulses of American historians today, Jefferson should have put pen to paper after all," says Thomas Lipscomb, The Wall Street Journal.
(SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- From the very first page, to the final departing scene, 'The Unbearable Sadness of Zilch' (ISBN: 9781440158261) by Konrad Ventana is a riveting narrative that shines a detective's flashlight into the darkest of reaches of the human mind. LOS ANGELES, Calif., Nov. 16 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- From the very first page, to the final departing scene, "The Unbearable Sadness of Zilch" (ISBN: 9781440158261) by Konrad Ventana is a riveting narrative that shines a detective's flashlight into the darkest of reaches of the human mind. Only this time it is not the usual hard-boiled Private Detective who is called upon to find some hidden Truth, it is the philosophical practitioner or "Perspicuous Eye" who is called upon to find the lost Beauty.

In this latest book release, Ventana takes the reader behind the curtains into the fabulous theatrical world of Hollywood's most accomplished movie moguls, who are striving to embrace the ultimate sources of their creativity, while they struggle with their own psychological demons.

Not since Nathanael West's "The Day of the Locust" and F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Last Tycoon" has Hollywood and the motion picture industry been seen in such a bold and illuminating light. Brimming with sexual intrigue, eye-widening spectacle, and a host of recognizable characters, this latest release by Konrad Ventana sets a new standard of relevance and transcendence in postmodern literary fiction as it raises the bar for visual special effects (VFX).

A must-read anyone who loves Hollywood stories, mystery novels, and classic literature, although the ultra-contemporary setting of this astounding new novel feels like it all happened just yesterday.

A compelling work of social criticism, The Unbearable Sadness of Zilch is a treatise on existentialism, modernism, and the emergence of a radical new brand of feminism: the feminist provocateur. Set in Hollywood Neo-noir, and guided by an intrepid philosophical counselor (or life coach), we investigate The Lost Love of the Latest Tycoon, examining the role of the muse, the magnificent intemperate impulses of the femme fatale, and the allure of the casting couch, as we witness the fall of an empire in the twilight of the egoists.

Blazing with eye-opening drama, keen psychological and insights, and layers of literary pyrotechnics, not to mention VFX, the reader is at once awed and entertained by this post-lux piece de resistance.

About the Author:
Using the pseudonym Konrad Ventana, literally "Bold Counsel through a Window," the author looks behind the scenes at the ideologies of our modern times and examines the potential for future development. This is the second book of The Post-Lux Trilogy (on artistic creativity), the first of which received Editors Choice and Rising Star awards.
ALBANY, N.Y., Nov. 12 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Sageous Press has announced the release of "Party Line" (ISBN 978-0-578-03593-2). a new novel by Peter A. Luber. This, Luber's second foray into the realm of dreams, establishes a unique vision which serves not only to entertain but to enlighten the reader as to the depths of his or her own consciousness. His first work, "Oneironauticus," was published in 2008 by Sageous.

The narrative of "Party Line" consists of the dreams of seven troubled, doomed, or inspired individuals. Each dreamer's personality and experience form both the content and style of their respective chapters. This creates a reading environment that truly portrays, rather than simply describes, the nocturnes and relationships of the major characters. Though each character's experience may be presented in a unique manner, the chapters are intertwined thoroughly, allowing a clear linear plot line and overall theme to emerge. Given the familiar clarity of this type of presentation, the reader will not avoid the sensation that they too have experienced the same surreal adventures that Lou, Alice, and their associates endure.

In addition to being a fascinating traditional read, "Party Line" offers another curiosity: its structure and use of deep-seeded archetypes allows the reader to open the book randomly and read any pages found to discover a perfectly unique personal experience. Read either way, "Party Line" offers a unique exploration of dreams, drama, life, death, and the human condition...and it is a great deal of fun! This is one book that should not be missed.

Luber, a life-long student of the metaphysics of dreaming, feels that this book finally represents the dreaming experience that many have tried, and usually failed, to portray in the past. "It needed to be written," he says, "and I hope that when someone finishes my book he'll feel a certain joy that he's not alone after all." Luber, who lives in semi-retirement in Amsterdam, NY, also produces fine art sculptures, which can be viewed at his website, www.sageous.com.

"Party Line" (ISBN 978-0-578-03593-2) and "Oneironauticus" (ISBN 978-0-6151-8290-2) are available online at Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com, or via download in e-book form from Lulu.com. Feel free to sample his other work as well; you will not be disappointed.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Nov. 5 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- If you have never heard of "Natural Harvest," the only semen-based cookbook currently on the market, you are not alone. Despite international media attention, "Natural Harvest" (ISBN: 9781424314614) has managed to stay under the mainstream radar - but just barely. That may be about to change with a nomination for the Gourmand World Cookbook Award, a prestigious international recognition of exceptional and groundbreaking culinary literature.

What started as a dinner party discussion among friends was eventually transformed into a glossy full color cookbook; one that has become one of the most popular items available from internet publisher Lulu.com at over 2 million unique visitors since its release. With over 1,500 books sold, copies of "Natural Harvest" have made their way across the world, from Italian translators to a women's book club in Singapore; even to Saudi Arabia, where a copy was shipped incognito directly from the author to evade government censors. The book has been particularly popular in Canada and France where journalists and independent media have tracked its success with fascination.

Independent and user-driven media has had a field day with "Natural Harvest." Photenhauer himself has given over 20 radio and news interviews with bloggers and journalists around the world. Comments on blogs and media sites run the gamut from humor to disgust to genuine appreciation. Often they are intertwined with thoughtful debates about the importance of free speech and the need for tolerance in modern and diverse societies. That the internet has made this discussion international has only emphasized the significance of the argument: an emphasis that will be on display at next year's Paris Cookbook fair, where the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards are presented, with their focus on international rights.

The popularity of the cookbook has surprised many people, including its author, Paul Photenhauer, a longtime resident of San Francisco, California and self proclaimed "foodie."

"I have received countless emails from people who thought they were alone in cooking with semen, but were relieved and happy to discover not only a cookbook, but a growing community of culinary enthusiasts," Photenhauer explains. A third edition is already in the works, with new and improved recipes submitted by fans of the cookbook.
BOWIE, Md., Oct. 27 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Mind Wings Audio, an audio publishing company, introduces a new market for fiction - the one hour audio story CD. The audio books are available in CD, MP3 download, and Kindle Editions (including iPod and iPhone).

These one hour audio story CDs, designed for ages 18 and up, have the potential to become the entertainment of choice for multi-taskers, commuters, travelers, professional truckers, housekeepers, gardeners or exercisers - basically anyone who has the desire to be entertained while engaged in another task. They are also perfect for the visually impaired.

Mary Gould, founder, is a self-proclaimed audio book junkie and owns more than seven dozen audio books. Not a fan of flying, she first became addicted to audio books while driving. Listening to these audio books kept her alert and made the drives fun and interesting.

Sources for stories are unpublished manuscripts written by contemporary authors with histories of published works and/or exceptional talent. Audio story categories are not limited, but criteria for acceptance are. All stories must be captivating, compelling and consuming.

"Our short story audio singles keep pace with the fast-moving lifestyle of today and provide a new publishing market for the longer story," says Gould.

"Our intent is to introduce our short story audios to a new group of listeners; individuals who have smaller windows of time for listening or who just want to enjoy a short story in audio format."

Popular CDs currently include: "Darktown Strutters" by L.A. Wilson, Jr., a tale where the main character is in love with his boss's girlfriend, and he plays one adversary against the other in a scheme to save his life and to keep the woman he loves; and "Rumors" - a suspense/thriller - by E. Jean Beres, where a small-town lawyer is fed up with a local businessman; he envies the power he wields and has a plan to get the position he wants.
Longer-Living Americans No Longer Have to Resign Themselves to Bleak Nursing Homes or Care by Relatives.

KIRKLAND, Wash., Oct. 27 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The good news is that Americans are living longer. The bad news is that millions are outliving their money; and when they need long term care, they face bleak prospects. According to a new guidebook from LTC Financial Partners, LLC (LTCFP), the unprepared are either forced to move into a nursing home funded by Medicaid, or to live with relatives who must disrupt their lives to care for them.

But it doesn't have to be that way. According to the guidebook - "3 in 4 Need More: Long Term Care Planning Today" - there are ways to keep on with the life you love (if you have a long term care policy or money set aside):

• In-home care: A paid professional provides the assistance you need -- for eating or moving around, for example -- in the privacy of your own home. This lets you maintain relationships with family, friends, and pets; and continue the activities that make life worthwhile.

• Assisted living: With this option you move into an apartment in a condominium-style complex where levels of care are readily available. Upscale assisted-living facilities often sport amenities such as a library, recreation area, on-site shopping, fine dining, and even university-level instruction or lectures. Many residents form new friendships, learn a new language, pursue a hobby, or continue a professional interest.

• Adult day care / community care: This option is for people who can afford part-time in-home professional care, or who live with others (usually their grown children) who can assist them at night but not during working hours. You would typically go to a community center where you can socialize, eat one or two meals, read, or pursue an interest; and then return home for the night.

Of course nursing homes, at various levels of quality, are also an option.

"We've moved beyond yesterday's long term care, limited to bleak nursing homes and relative care, but you've got to be able to pay for it," says Denise Gott, co-author of the guidebook and Chairman of LTCFP, the publisher.

The guidebook details the seven essentials of long term care planning today:

1. Knowing your risks.

2. Considering who will care for you.

3. Paying for long term care.

4. Doing your homework.

5. Designing the right plan for you.

6. Doing your homework.

7. Working with a specialist.

For example, did you know that a majority of Americans over 65 will need long term care at some point; and that nursing home costs are projected to rise to more than $175,000 per year on average by 2021? Do you really want your son or daughter to quit their job to bathe you and feed you, or would you prefer a professional caregiver? Have you saved the hundreds of thousands it may require for professional care over multiple years; or would a long term care insurance policy make more sense for you?

These and other key questions are answered by the guidebook. In particular, the importance of working with an impartial long term care insurance specialist is stressed. "You need help in picking a sound carrier, getting the policy features you want, and keeping your premium as low as possible," Gott says.

"3 in 4 Need More: Long Term Care Planning Today" is available free, in eBook form, at www.ltcfp.us/3in4guide.html. The guidebook includes links to LTCFP and to the LTC Hotline, which gives access to impartial long term care specialists in every state.

The guidebook's co-authors include three LTC experts in addition to Gott: Gary Melnikoff, Todd Grove, and Gene Cutler.

"Needing care no longer means needing to be isolated or dependent," Gott says. "If you get a good long term care policy, you can keep on living a dynamic, full life."

LTC Financial Partners LLC (LTCFP) is one of the nation's largest and most experienced long-term care insurance agencies. It includes 550 independent agents, all specialists in long-term care insurance. Inc. magazine recently placed LTCFP No. 16 in the insurance category in its annual ranking of the 5,000 fastest-growing companies in the nation. Among insurance agencies, LTCFP is the fastest-growing one focusing exclusively on long-term care insurance sales.

NEW YORK, N.Y., Oct. 21 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- A new booklet by author and business expert Marty Niedelman, "Rx For Success," is a clear concise manuscript to help anyone achieve their goals and aspirations. Many people work hard and struggle to survive. Others do things in a certain way and have all the wealth and fame.

Marty has combined the knowledge of many motivational books, tapes, courses, and lectures. He feels in essence, everyone is saying the same thing in different ways. By reading his booklet in thirty minutes or less, people will reap the benefit of reading many books which could amount to thousands of pages.

By using this concise, easy to read booklet, individuals will learn how to discover and accomplish anything and everything they desire.

According to Marty, it is said that only five percent of the world population is motivated and working toward achieving their goals. This means that ninety-five percent of the population does not have a plan. It is also said that the high achievers who comprise that top five percent, have ninety-five percent of the world's wealth. Marty wants to put the reader in this five percent by allowing him or her to read this "Recipe For Success." If enough people can transform their way of thinking, it is our hope and dream that we can increase the elite five percent to ten.
Marty has done research for the past thirty years in order to write this booklet for the benefit of mankind. He can teach people how to set and accomplish their goals, solve everyday problems, overcome procrastination by using perseverance, and to truly become successful.

At the end of this booklet, he made it possible for the reader to write their living legacy by answering a few pointed questions which will change and improve their lives. It will spell out exactly who they are, what they feel inside, and where they want to go. After they take a little time to fill in the blanks, one of the great secrets of life will become evident. In fact, their entire life will change.

It is his goal that everyone who reads this "Rx For Success," will undergo a life altering change. He wants to help individuals help themselves to achieve their goals and elevate their position in life.
LOS ANGELES, Calif., Oct. 12 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- No one is innocent ... not in this town. In this town, the apocalypse has come and gone, lifting the veil of innocence like a great velvet curtain in an old movie house, where the only victims that don't return for the sequel are the gods themselves, struck out long ago by the big blue pencil. In this town, every man, woman, and child takes the limits of his or her own field of vision to be the limits of the world. In his latest novel, "The Unbearable Sadness of Zilch" (ISBN: 9781440158261), Konrad Ventana explodes the myths behind the Star Machine with a whole new level of intimate private investigation.

Not since "The Day of the Locust" and "The Last Tycoon" has Hollywood and the motion picture industry been seen in such a bold and perspicuous light. Brimming with sexual intrigue, eye-widening spectacle, and a host of recognizable caricatures, this latest release by Konrad Ventana sets a new standard of poignancy and transcendence in postmodern literary fiction as it raises the bar for visual special effects (VFX).

A riveting work of social criticism, "The Unbearable Sadness of Zilch" is a treatise on existentialism, modernism, and the emergence of a radical new brand of feminism: the feminist provocateur.

Blazing with eye-opening drama, keen psychological and philosophical insights, and layers of linguistic pyrotechnics, not to mention VFX, the reader is at once awed and entertained by this post-lux piece de resistance.

About the Author:
Using the pseudonym Konrad Ventana, literally "Bold Counsel through a Window," the author looks behind the scenes at the ideologies of our modern times and examines the potential for future development. This is the second book of The Post-Lux Trilogy (on artistic creativity) which has already received Editors Choice and Rising Star awards.

"The Unbearable Sadness of Zilch" is available in hardcover, softcover, and e-book formats, from: www.iUniverse.com, www.bn.com, and www.amazon.com .
The federal government is clamping down on the Wild West of credit card issuing to young adults when tough new regulations go into effect in February 2010, and Brett Handler couldn't be happier. Handler, author of "Dear Graduate" (ISBN-13: 978-0-615-29936-5, Dreamstar Publishing), the innovative new book and CD for young adults about financial responsibility, has been railing against credit card companies' injudicious card issuing practices for years.
A Decade of Home Court Advantage in American Sports" (ISBN: 978-0-9824108-0-6), it exists, but not in the way most people think it does. Published by Sports Lit, the book begins by addressing why the concept of home court advantage is really somewhat misunderstood.

In this first book of a new literary series, Konrad Ventana draws back the curtains and throws open a window to a perennial drama with a depth of language that can only be described as symphonic. "A Desperado's Daily Bread: Book One of the Post-Lux Trilogy" (ISBN: 978-0595521548, paperback) is a riveting drama that follows the trail of a Western outlaw biochemist of the subterranean territories through the neo-shamanistic dystopia, neo-contemplative hoo-ha, and blatant neoteny of the 1970's New Age movements on the hunt for more profound and sublime naturalistic roots.

The authors provide practical advice to parents, supported by the latest research, about boosting their child's intellect. Their user-friendly book demonstrates how parents can help their children build verbal skills, enhance analytical abilities, and develop early reading skills that set the stage for success in elementary school.

"The Vegan Monologues" (ISBN 9781934074367, Apprentice House), guides readers through the world of being vegan, traveling life's path as an herbivore in a treacherous world of carnivores. Whether explaining how vegetarian guys get the girls, exploring an addiction to Chinese takeout, or being sequestered in the "garden salad zone," author Ben Shaberman's gentle sense of humor sheds light on what it means to go meatless. Shaberman also reflects on his Jewish heritage, Pink Floyd concerts, fornicating grasshoppers, and being chased by wild dogs.
