SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 9, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The Los Angeles chapter of the American Parkinson's Disease Association (apdala.org), along with James Gray Gallery, present "Living Artistically with Parkinson's Disease," a unique exhibition featuring works of art created by celebrated artists living with PD.
For over ten years APDA L.A. has been supporting patients with Parkinson's Disease and raising public awareness about Parkinson's through events such as wellness workshops, an annual walk-a-thon, and now the "Living Artistically with Parkinson's Disease" art exhibition. The goal of the show is to not only raise funds, but also to express to the community what people living with PD can do. Mark Siegel, President of APDA Los Angeles says, "This is a wonderful opportunity for people with Parkinson's to show the world their creativity and skills. APDA is proud to sponsor this ground breaking exhibition."

Unlike other art exhibits, "Living Artistically with Parkinson's Disease" is distinctive in that every contributing artist is doing just that - living artistically with Parkinson's Disease. "'Living Artistically with Parkinson's Disease' shows me what can be accomplished with determination," participating artist and PD patient Sandy Yaras says. "I am honored to be included with this remarkable group of people." The exhibition will showcase paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, and music from artists including Jorge Lacost, James Tim Walker, and Herb Rosenkrantz.
LUDWIGSBURG, Germany, Feb. 8, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Pintexx, an international company that focuses on sophisticated software solutions for the processing and optimizing of text, has announced today that it has released the Microsoft Add-In of the 4D Wording Optimizer.

Countless written communications are created without much thought because of deadlines and other pressures, even though most companies know that understandable, reader-friendly, and targeted communication is essential.

Customer-friendly letters and emails are a goal for most companies. Corporate language and communication have become extremely important in the marketplace. Companies today strive for customer friendly communication. The goal: Quality documents across the board. How can that be realized?

Legibility, standardization, diversity, and emotional content determine the success of written communication. Pintexx, a software publisher, has developed a unique Microsoft(R) Word Add-In that includes these four dimensions. The software is for all areas of communication and all sectors, including manufacturing, retail, schools and universities, insurance and finance, and government agencies.

The 4D Wording Optimizer informs the user about strengths and weaknesses of a particular text and evaluates the text according to the four quality dimensions. The software delivers suggestions and alternatives. Company requirements and standards for written communication can easily be included in the software and thereby implemented more effectively. A multitude of useful functions helps to write more effective and efficient communication. Clear visualizations provide information about repetitions, the use of passive words, long sentences, comprehension, and if the communication reaches the reader on his or her level, among other things.

Pintexx has been able to create a unique and helpful tool based on the proven standards of the Corporate Wording(R) strategy and the 4-Color approach, as certified by Hans-Peter Forster, founder of Corporate Wording(R) and expert for corporate communication. For that reason the 4D Wording Optimizer has received the "CW Inside" certificate.

Please visit our website - www.pintexx.com - for further evaluation of the 4D Wording Optimizer and our other state-of-the-art tools. You can download a trial of this tool and any of our other writing tools.

BOSTON, Mass., Feb. 3, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Mr. Ray Michaels, founder of Localization, LLC, has recently announced that the sluggish economy has forced companies to look into Canadian, European, Asian and South American markets and while they are working on that French pronunciation, managers now come to Localization, LLC Translation Services for translation and language support.

Some companies are starting to increase their exports, others are making efforts to broaden their client base domestically; in both cases, the companies are targeting non-English speaking customers.

As of late, Ray Michaels, Marketing Director at Localization, LLC Translations Boston points out that there has been an increase in demand for translation of medical equipment manuals, legal contracts and technical and safety data sheets. "There is a great demand right now for American made services and equipment," says Ray. "Canada, our closest neighbor, is the No 1 importer of American goods and services. South American, Asian and European clients are also buying US made product so when you sell to a foreign country, all the supporting documentation has to be in the language of the country the product is going to."

The greatest demand at Localization, LLC Translations Boston are Spanish and French translations. "Which makes sense," says Ray since Spanish is spoken throughout North and South America and French speaking Canada is only 5 hours away.

When asked about all the available automated translation such as Google Translate and Babel Fish, Mr. Michaels also adds that he doesn't feel translators and language professionals should be threatened by technological advances.

"Translation industry has evolved into a very diverse industry with services that may not come to mind right away when thinking of translation," says Ray. "To begin with, the automated translations have a long way to go in terms of accuracy and language grammar. They haven't yet learned how to decline or conjugate so that's why I always advise our clients to use these tools for personal needs such as translate an email or sentence or two. Do not use it if the translated document will be published or seen by others. It's dangerous because you never know what that machine translation can create: it could be offensive and expletive. Companies spend years building their reputation - machine translation can destroy it in seconds. And machine translations would never learn idioms, jokes and the overall spirit of the written text," adds Ray.

"Let's not forget," continues Michaels, "that translation is not the only service that goes into a project: most of our translation projects require formatting, desktop publishing or localization. In addition, some of the clients look to take their message beyond the written word; that's why Localization, LLC Translations Boston offers such services as transcription of foreign languages, voice over and dubbing."

"We are privileged to be in a position to hire people," says Daniel Bowen, president of Bowen Media. "In a time when many companies are having to lay people off, we are able to inspire growth."
SAN DIEGO, Calif., Dec. 2, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Mike Shirk of San Diego, CA lives with a degenerative and deadly disease called IBM, "inclusion body myositis." There is no known treatment or cure. Rather than going quietly, Shirk has used his years productively to help and inspire others with physical disabilities. His website (www.lifedisabled.com) and blog are full of practical, self-help information for the disabled. Now Shirk has posted a music video on YouTube (CRo5By9YvuA) in which he inspires everyone to make lemonade from the lemons of life.

When diagnosed 16 years ago, Shirk closed his highly successful advertising agency, but was determined to make the most of his remaining years. IBM victims often die early, usually from pneumonia, as the muscles that support breathing and swallowing grow weaker. Today Mike feels fortunate that he has survived so long, which he attributes to remaining active and productive.

Mike's blog features solutions to everyday living challenges he encounters as the debilitating effects of IBM increase. Mike shares everything from evaluating can and bottle openers to selecting vehicles and scooters. When easy-off, easy-on clothing was difficult to find, Mike bought a sewing machine and soon was making his own pants and even shoes.

Soon after diagnosis, Shirk began serious study of painting in watercolors. Mike thanks his wife, Beth, an accomplished artist, for his inspiration. Within a few years, his paintings had won national awards, been sold to dozens of collectors and he had become president of the prestigious San Diego Watercolor Society. During his term, Shirk relocated the Society to spacious new quarters and personally wrote business software applications to automate membership, paint-outs, calendars, exhibitions, and classes.

Mike also credits Apple products for making his life productive. He owns an iMac, MacBook Pro, an iPad and an iPhone. His new music video was made with Apple applications. Once a 100 WPM typist, Mike's frozen fingers no longer can manipulate keyboards and he now dictates through the iPhone 4's voice recognition software.

As long as he can, Shirk will continue to inspire the disabled and the rest of us. Will Mike give up? As these partial lyrics from his song say,
No, I won't stand for that,
I'm too much man for that.
I never planned for this,
But life's to grand for this."
There are stories to be written,
And lessons to be learned.
Feelings to be captured,
And love to be returned.

Music is a growing part of medical therapy. It's working for Mike.
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Nov. 30, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- John Waguespack, is showcasing his new works at The McLoughlin Gallery in San Francisco December 8, 2011 through January 21, 2012. "Deconstructing Hollywood" is his second solo exhibition at The McLoughlin Gallery at 49 Geary Street in San Francisco.

Waguespack emerged onto the San Francisco art scene in 2005 fusing different mediums, oil, acrylic, ink, and industrial design, providing a fresh perspective to his figurative, abstract striped images inspired from current events and pop culture.

"This collection is a result of my time spent in Hollywood this summer. This body of new work encompasses deconstructing Hollywood icons to depicting the Los Angeles landscape. End result - ecstasy," said John Waguespack.

The opening reception for the artist will take place on Thursday December 8, 5:30-7:30 p.m. and the exhibition will remain on display until January 21, 2011.

"John is an innovator giving pop-art a fresh attitude by blending different mediums and techniques into his work. He is among the 21st Century artists who are strongly influenced by social media and the demands of young collectors to create art they can relate to. It is an exciting, evocative time," states Joan McLoughlin, Gallerist, The McLoughlin Gallery.
LOS ANGELES, Calif., Nov. 16, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Digital Ray, a custom web development and search engine optimization (SEO) firm in Los Angeles, California, has developed a solution that enables websites coded in Classic ASP to accept Amazon's e-commerce checkout solution. This is something of a watershed because Amazon Checkout doesn't support Classic ASP; it supports a more modern version of the dynamic language, ASP.NET.

Now, when you consider that there are hundreds of thousands of websites coded in Classic ASP, and that transforming them over to ASP.NET is time-consuming and expensive, the advantage of Digital Ray's newly released amazon developer solution becomes clear. It does not involve conversion of the whole site from Classic ASP to ASP.NET.

Checkout by Amazon is an extremely versatile and efficient cart, something that all e-commerce website owners could benefit from. It includes a one-click checkout, which is statistically proven to increase conversions. Amazon FPS development is a payment solution that ties into the client's website. There are countless store owners who would do well to employ Amazon checkout or Amazon FPS if only it was possible. Well, now it is, and without the expensive upgrade to ASP.NET. For example, one of the prototype websites that Digital Ray worked on was Sabrina Silver. This site was coded in Classic ASP, yet the client wanted Amazon FPS.

The Digital Ray team got to work and figured out how to seamlessly integrate Classic ASP with Amazon Payments. No small feat and quite an accomplishment! Now the site has a fully functioning Amazon FPS. Just how Digital Ray managed to do this?

Project manager of Digital Ray, Sarkis Chakarian, went on record to say, "We have managed to use a bridge between Classic ASP and ASP.NET through the help of the existing database. This is the core breakthrough in our technology. As far as we know, we are the only company that offers this solution. Already the response has been overwhelming and we have numerous Classic ASP e-commerce sites in the process of integrating Amazon Checkout. I would like to stress this option is very affordable and can be completed in relatively short order. If ASP.NET becomes a necessity for any company, Digital Ray will provide them a cost effective solution by bridging ASP.NET with Classic ASP. Again, you won't find any other web development company who provides Amazon payment solutions for a Classic ASP website without converting the whole site to ASP.NET."

Digital Ray has been a featured partner in Amazon payments since 2009 as reported in Amazon's newsletter.
