SecuGen Launches the iD-SERIAL Fingerprint Reader for POS Applications
SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 9 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- SecuGen, the world's leading optical fingerprint device vendor, is pleased to announce the availability of the brand new SecuGen iD-SERIAL™ fingerprint reader. The iD-SERIAL is a complete biometric system that captures, enrolls, matches and stores fingerprints and communicates via a serial interface, making it suitable in any situation where a serial port can be used.
The SecuGen iD-SERIAL reader contains SecuGen's popular optical fingerprint sensor with a highly scratch resistant platen and comes housed in a desk mountable case with an RS232 serial cable and power supply. Like SecuGen's other fingerprint products, it is rugged, very accurate and affordable. The iD-SERIAL can store up to 3,000 fingerprints within the unit, or it can be interfaced with a separate database to match and store an unlimited number of fingerprints.
Some key features of the SecuGen iD-SERIAL are:
1) Surface mountable case design.
2) Ability to function with host controller as stand-alone or combined with external database.
3) Serial interface with RJ-22 jack provides connection flexibility for diverse cabling requirements.
4) Smart Capture™ that takes high quality scans of traditionally difficult fingerprints.
5) Auto-On™ that makes fingerprint reading easy and convenient.
The SecuGen iD-SERIAL is the first member of SecuGen's new iD series of biometric fingerprint readers. Additional models are expected in the next several weeks.
"The development of the iD-SERIAL is the result of listening carefully to our customers and responding to their need for a high quality fingerprint reader that can be used in situations where a standard PC is unavailable," stated Dan Riley, SecuGen's VP of Engineering. "In particular we have seen numerous requirements for fingerprint readers to use in point-of-sale applications with terminals such as the Verifone Omni 3750. Our engineers have worked hard to design this product which we believe very ably fills this requirement."
Won Lee, CEO of SecuGen, added, "Our focus has always been on providing our partners with the tools that they need to thrive in the competitive landscape of today's biometric industry. We are confident that the iD-SERIAL as well as the rest of the iD product series will do just that. We are very excited about this product launch."
