TIPP CITY, Ohio, April 11, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Dr. Barbara Curry, Superintendent of Eaton Community Schools, is pleased to announce that the District has achieved more than $583,000 in energy savings over the past two years through the energy conservation project implemented by Energy Optimizers, USA.

"The maintenance and facility staff of the Eaton Community School District have worked with Energy Optimizers, USA to ensure that the taxpayers' investment in the energy savings project started in 2011 has not only been achieved but has greatly exceeded the estimates. That is a testament to our staff's dedication to ensuring that we operate our facilities as efficiently and effectively as possible," says Curry.

Energy Optimizers, USA and school personnel identified numerous opportunities to improve the facilities' HVAC systems and lighting in the High School and East Elementary schools in 2011. Original estimated energy savings were $432,000 for the first two years, but in reality, $583,000 has been saved during that time period - achieving $150,000 additional savings over original estimates.

Energy Optimizers, USA performed lighting retrofits, installed ice storage HVAC systems in both buildings, and added building automation advanced energy management programming. Solar thermal systems for domestic hot water and boiler systems were installed. The District also started an Energy Education Team of students to educate and engage students and staff in energy conservation.

The buildings have become more purposeful in the use of energy without compromising a comfortable learning environment for teachers and students. The District utilized a funding mechanism through the Ohio School Facilities Commission's House Bill 264 program so that the District did not have to ask for any taxpayer dollars.
