Echoes of the Forest Newsroom - Profile and News Archive
Founded by Liisa Andreassen, Echoes of the Forest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to create a meaningful and artistic education memorial for the fallen trees of Western North Carolina (WNC) in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Its goal is to transform the devastation into a project of hope and revitalization, enlisting local artists and engaging the community while boosting regional tourism.
Our vision is to bring hope and awareness about our magnificent forests & trees that have stood alongside us for generations. This tragic event not only took out thousands of trees, it displaced people from their homes, destroyed businesses and people’s livelihood in just a few long hours. Our vision is to bring joy to local artists, residents, and visitors of WNC. To bring closure to an event that was so destructive yet pushed our community together, making us stronger than ever. Our vision is to bring tangible ways to reflect on a time when WNC was a thriving community and not victims of a storm.
