SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov. 14, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — More than 500 people are expected to attend the 15th annual award luncheon Saturday, November 19, 2016, to recognize winners of the “Excellence in Education and Leadership in Business” Awards presented by the Sacramento Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women (NCBW).

NCBW will honor individuals from all walks of life, for their achievements and contributions to health and welfare of the greater Sacramento community. The event will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Sacramento from noon to 2 p.m. Adrienne Bankert, ABC National News Correspondent and native Sacramentan, will be the keynote speaker.

“For the past 15 years, NCBW has celebrated community leaders who exemplify compassion, vision, and integrity throughout the greater Sacramento region,” said NCBW chapter president, Evelyn Frazier.

This year’s honorees are:

  • Donna Cherry – She is the Associate Superintendent for Pre K-6th grades for the Elk Grove Unified School District. She will receive the Excellence in Education Award.
  • Dr. Tiffany Smith-Simmons, Ed.D – She is the Human Resources Director for the Sacramento City Unified School District. She will receive the Excellence in Education Award.
  • Dr. Ramona E. Robinson – She is the Superintendent for the Vallejo Unified School District. She will receive the Excellence in Education Award.
  • Debra Smith – She is the Chief Operating Investment Officer for CalSTRS. She will receive the Leadership in Business Award.
  • Darlene Dangerfield – Community Ambassador and Retired law enforcement officer. She will receive the Community Service Award.
  • George S. “Spanky” Chapter of the Tuskegee Airman Inc. – It is an organization Honoring the accomplishments and perpetuating the history of African-Americans who participated in air crew, ground crew and operations support training in the Army Air Corps during World War II. The organization also introduces young people across the nation to the world of aviation and science through local and national programs such as Young Eagles and TAI youth programs. They will receive the Organization of Excellence Award.

“There will also be an award given to a high school student deemed to be a ‘Rising Star’ based on the student’s community service commitment, academic success or criteria that demonstrates that they are on a path to success,” explained Frazier.

The annual luncheon and award celebration is a fundraiser for NCBW’s educational, public service, and scholarships campaigns.
