TEMECULA, Calif., April 30 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- 150 years old and still never a dull moment in Temecula Valley, Southern California Wine Country. "If you have never experienced Temecula Valley, the region has something to offer everyone," says Kimberly Adams, President and CEO of the Temecula Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The first post office was granted by the federal government in 1859 to the small community of Temecula. Temecula posted its first piece of mail over 150 years ago, unofficially marking the communities 150th birthday this month. Rich history is found at the Temecula Valley Museum at Sam Hick's Park in Old Town Temecula. The community boasts a 150-ton monument made of granite also quarried in Temecula. The monument "They Passed This Way" bears names of dozens of pioneers who came through Temecula years ago as the West was being settled.
150 years later, Temecula Valley has developed into a tourism destination boasting over 150 things to do. With events such as the Temecula Valley International Film and Music Festival, the annual Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival, the Rod Run, Jazz Festivals and several other signature events, Temecula Valley has forged its claim as the ideal hotspot for San Diego and Orange County visitors. But the fun doesn't stop there. The region is home to wonderful entertainment, well-known golf resorts, award-winning wines and historic site seeing. Temecula Valley is a bride's dream wedding destination, and an all around perfect get-away destination.
Perhaps one of Temecula's biggest attraction, Pechanga Resort & Casino has carved a niche as an ideal place to breakaway, while allowing one to truly experience the Temecula Valley. In 1852, land located in Southern Temecula was transferred to the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians. The land surrounds a 1,500 year-old oak tree, believed to be one of the oldest and largest oak trees in the United States. The Pechanga Reservation land, poses as a peaceful and beautiful location for what now houses the Pechanga Resort and Casino. The resort has played an integral role in the history of Temecula Valley's economy and development. For those visiting the Temecula Valley, Pechanga is the ideal place to truly experience the Temecula Valley. During the day, visitors can golf at Pechanga's new Journey at Pechanga a world-class golf course, experience close to 40 wineries in Southern California Wine Country or soar in a hot air balloon. With award-winning entertainment, including music, comedy and theater shows, Pechanga offers the nightlife that you can't find anywhere else in Southern California. Room accommodations and spa services are also a wonderful way to celebrate the city's birthday in style.
Whether you are looking for a weekend getaway or weeklong siesta, Temecula Valley is an ideal hotspot for visitors from San Diego or Orange County. Within an hour drive from most Southern California cities, Temecula Valley offers its visitors a convenient location to relax, enjoy and celebrate a piece of history. Visitors can take advantage of this getaway, avoid jetlag and security checkpoints while staying close to home.
For a local getaway consider the total package; Temecula Valley Southern California Wine Country! With 150 years of culture, history and entertainment, Temecula Valley is the ideal place to make it all happen.
