KIRKLAND, WA – May 31 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — With Memorial Day behind us, so is the Federal government’s Long-Term Care Consumer Awareness Campaign, with uncertain prospects for revival. Information kits, consisting of a booklet and audio CD, will no longer be available as supplies dwindle.

But in the grand tradition of government to private-sector handoffs, “We’re following Washington’s lead by supplying a comparable package,” says Cameron Truesdell, head of the nation’s leading LTC insurance brokerage, LTC Financial Partners LLC (www.ltcfp.com), based in Kirkland, Washington. The package covers the same ground as the Federal kit, which offers guidance on how to protect oneself through private insurance.

The private-sector package consists of –

* A free 28-page guide on navigating the complexities of long term care insurance.

* Free by-phone advice on how to preserve assets while handling care expenses.

“The government’s package is excellent,” says Truesdell, “but we add a couple of extras: real live experts who will answer questions and give advice free of charge; and no-nonsense guidance on how to protect your nest egg and take advantage of all the tax breaks related to LTC.” The private package is available now, through the LTC Financial network, which includes 53 of America’s 100 most successful long term care insurance specialists.

The Federal program was launched as a test by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, with a media blitz in five states: Arkansas, Idaho, Nevada, New Jersey, and Virginia. The campaign included radio and TV spots plus letters from the governors addressed to 2.1 million 50-something’s. Awareness was successfully raised, according to administrators and observers; but funding is not available, at the present time, to continue the program or expand it to national scope.
