FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -------------------------- Of interest to editors and journalists covering: Furniture, Architectural, Interior Design, Home Office, NY Business News Beck Office Furniture Transforms Company with Major Overhaul of Showrooms, Locations and Services Company Opens new location in Bermuda, Launches new Home Office Division in New York NEW YORK, NY - (Send2Press Newswire) - Nov. 5, 2003 -- Beck Office Furniture, Inc. (www.beckofficefurniture.com) today announced a company restructuring to better serve its core customer base of small to medium businesses through the consolidation of select showrooms, an upgraded online Virtual Showroom, a new home office division and new International office in Bermuda. A $500,000 marketing campaign will begin January 1st to promote the transformation of the 50-year old company. The consolidation of the showrooms is part of the overall plan to have the showroom brought to the customer rather than have the customer come to their showrooms. A member of the Beck design team or product counselor will work with clients through onsite visits and a Virtual Showroom. "With the advent of the virtual office and telecommuting," says company president and CEO, Kenneth Beck, "two things have become very clear: more and more people are working 24/7 from home, on the road, on the beach -- and the need to 'see it and feel it' in person diminishes daily. Having a strategically placed showroom or two is worthwhile... having seven showrooms is superfluous." "As part of this transformation, we've purchased state-of-the-art telephony and design technology to provide world class service to those customers who have similarly embraced distance-based communication methods." Utilizing the myriad of technology available including digital documents, floor plans and proposals will be delivered directly to the end user's desktop via e-mail. A new Home Office Division has also been created to better serve the telecommuting market. The new division will be housed initially in their Mineola showroom, with plans to expand this division into their Ronkonkoma location. Suffolk county residents will especially benefit from this move, since an increasing number of residents are opting to work from home rather than commute into Manhattan. Additionally, as the next step in their expansion plan announced in January 2003, Beck Office Furniture announced the opening of their first international office in Bermuda. "Our new International office in Bermuda will allow us to better serve our customers who do business worldwide," adds Beck. Privately owned Beck Office Furniture, Inc. is one of the oldest and largest commercial office furniture dealers in the country. Beck's in-house team of office designers and space planners, each holding design degrees, provide personalized solutions for the small- to medium-business enterprise market (20 to 250 employees). Joe Beck started Joe Beck Desk Co. in a Manhattan warehouse 50 years ago. Beck carries both brand names and private label furniture and office systems manufactured by top companies.
