Raymond Buch of Pittstown, NJ sorts through his old film reels. / The producer, Vic Campbell, enjoys helping veterans tell their stories. Former Sgt. Raymond Buch of Pittstown, New Jersey needed his old films preserved and digitized. While handling this project, Mr. Buch arranged for fellow Battle of The Bulge Veterans at his New Jersey chapter, to sit for brief interviews in which they spoke of their lives in that time. The collection became a VHS tape. Interest grew as the 60th anniversary of the battle approached. The famous German offensive against the American lines began on December 16, 1944. The interview project is now available on DVD. The DVD contains bonus material from Sgt. Buch's "home movies," filmed on his 8mm camera while in training camps and at war, in Europe. One reel depicts scenes of a newly liberated concentration camp. The "memories" feature with aged veterans is a contrast to the youthful faces that appear in Buch's "home movies". The DVD has educational and historical value bringing life experiences of real people to the younger generation. A portion of each sale benefits the participating veteran's organizations. The DVD is also available to other organizations to use as a fundraiser. More about this and other titles is available at the company website. Veterans often strive to help families find information about their relatives who fought in this historic battle. The survivors did not forget those who died in battle or of wounds or who were missing in action. Those who remain try to help people find this part of their heritage when possible.
