Press Release:
New Book is a Refreshing Look at Boston's Charles River
CARLISLE, Pa., Feb. 11 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- 2k Artisans (2kartisans.com) is announcing the publication of a new book by artist and author Michael F. Pasqua. "The Charles, A River For All Seasons" (ISBN 1440424039; EAN-139781440424038) is a collection of impressions of Boston's favorite place to play. The forty vivid color images, prepared in a distinctive style, show the changing face of the river as it flows through the seasons. The story that accompanies the images combines personal reflections of the author with the history of how the city has reshaped the river from colonial times to the present day.
Compiled over a four year period, the technique used to create each image is a marriage of photographic art and computer technology. The finished results retain the sharpness of a photograph and the softness of a painting. The 8.5 inch square paperback edition will appeal to students, visitors, and lifelong residents of the city who have fallen in love with the river and surrounding parklands.
Founder and President of the Charles River Conservancy, Renata von Tscharner, has said "The publication of 'The Charles, a River for All Seasons' by Michael F. Pasqua adds a different perspective to the beloved waterfront. By combining his Photoshop images with a brief history, the author offers both a new visual experience as well as some historic background. The goal of the Charles River Conservancy is to make the parklands more attractive, active and accessible to all; this publication can help to entice more people to enjoy recreation on the river or become an active landscape volunteer."
Jeryl Oristaglio, co-founder and President of the Esplanade Association said, "Boston's Charles River and historic Esplanade win the hearts of millions of visitors each year. To our great delight, Mike Pasqua's art captures the beauty of the river and this treasured riverside park."
A native of Boston's Old West End and graduate of Northeastern University, Mr. Pasqua returned to the city after a lengthy absence at the start of a new millennium and began capturing the changing seasons along the Charles. Before publication through the on-demand publisher CreateSpace, this visual essay had been on exhibit in Boston's City Hall, the West End Branch of the Public Library, and other locations around New England.
2k Artisans was established in 2000 as an outlet for prints, calendars, and books based on the images of Mr. Pasqua. Copies of the book are available for $15 through Amazon.com and www.2kartisans.com. Quantity discounts are available by contacting info@2kartisans.com.
