Article Editor: Carly Zander
Computer Repair Shop Robbed - Laptop Stolen
WACO, TX - November 9, 2004 /Send2Press Newswire/ -- On September 3rd of this year, a businessman in Waco, TX reported that his laptop computer had been stolen from a local computer repair shop. Critical business information about his clients was resident on that laptop, including sensitive client identity, medical and financial information. Fortunately, his computer was protected by The CyberAngel Security Software (www.thecyberangel.com) to protect that sensitive information and to help fight theft.
On September 27th, the stolen computer was booted-up and sent a covert alert to The CyberAngel Security Solutions Monitoring Center, providing the location details that indicated the computer was now in Dallas, TX. CSS, Inc. alerted local law enforcement authorities in Waco and provided them with the location information. With CSS, Inc, the Waco Police and the Dallas Police working together, the laptop computer was recovered and returned back to the rightful owner. All of the client information on that computer was secure and intact upon recovery.
"I never expected to get my computer back," stated Brock Sanders, of Waco, TX. "But working with the staff at CyberAngel was like working with the guy next door, very friendly, informative and helpful. They kept me informed all the way through the process, and handled all coordination with law enforcement until I got my laptop back. Thank you CyberAngel!"
With the increasing need to protect sensitive client information, and the need to comply with the Governmental Privacy Acts, The CyberAngel makes more sense than ever. The CyberAngel is a solid compliance tool that provides Single and Two-Factor Authentication, Data and Information Encryption, Prevention of Unauthorized Remote Access, as well as Tracking and Recovery in the event of loss or theft.
Industry-wide, computer theft has increased 52% since 2002, and is the second leading cause of financial loss, right behind loss due to virus damage. Recent CyberAngel recoveries in Texas include Alamo, Sanger, and Houston, with additional recoveries in cities such as Milwaukee, Albuquerque, and Chicago.
